    Sig P228 9mm

I'm looking for a Sig P228 9mm to complete my collection. does anyone know of one for sale in CA, or outside of CA that would be PPT. I know i can get 10rnd mags for it if they only have one with 13rnd mags. Any help would be appreciated. and yes, i've looked on gunbroker, no one wants to ship to CA

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

If you buy from Our Of State you can't do a PPT, just verifying.

Topgun has new ones and will ship to California minus the mags.

      Check out Dan's Ammo.

I am not sure if he ships to CA or not, but he has great prices and is a good guy to deal with.

I'm curious to know what else is in the collection. I own a P228 but I could never part with it. It is, in my opinion, the finest firearm ever made.

oh, and make sure the frame isn't cracked either. Happens when above isn't done quite to schedule.

eta: and no i'm not selling mine.

ditch the standard (usually dead) siglight 3-dot setup and get this

Have you seen cracked 228 frames because of this ? I am curious because I ve never heard of 228's having cracked frames from not replacing the firing pin position pin. I work on them everyday and have yet to see one cracked because of this problem ( Sig Certified Armorer ). Were did you hear this info from ? And why would the firing pin positioning pin ( which I am believe is what your referencing as the slide pin ) cause the frame to crack ? It only serves to hold the firing pin in position and the breech block in place. In reference to the picture below parts #22 and #36.

Now Sig did have problems with early frames on 220's and 226's. And of course you hear now and then of a frame having problems ( usually high mileage 30,000+ rounds ) with hair line cracks, but still shooting and functioning fine.

I have heard and seen the firing pin positioning pin break and the breech block become loose, and I have seen chipped and cracked early breech blocks ( they beefed up the firing pin position pin hole in the mid 90's I believe , I may be wrong on that time frame ). I have had cracked and chipped breech blocks on my own guns and still shoot them today with no accuracy or reliability problems. And I have pulled apart many with broken pins that the owner never knew there was a problem and was shooting them just fine.

Just curious to the info you have on the frame cracking of the 228 from the pin problem. I may learn something new.

              Thanks
              Todd

Friend just picked up one of the Turners deal.

Pistol is in actually very good shape. More holster wear then anything. Needed a full deep cleaning. Picked him up a parts kit and new grips.

Also, if you do get the Turners deal, toss the mags. Don't know what they are, but they aren't Factory 10 rounders. Probably pro-mags. Shot like crap with those mags. I slapped my 226 mags in there at the range, and she shot absolutely flawlessly at that point.

With that being said I would also have to say that a loose roll pin is something that could possibly happen, but they are spring steel with is flexible and puts outward pressure on the slide.

What I would say is that if a firing pin positioning pin is removed and reinstalled a few times that this could be something that happens. But I would hope that 90% of people would realize that the breech block is loose ( to cause damage I would think it would be loose enough to be noticeable easily ) and they would have it serviced.

For under $10 its not a bad idea to replace the roll pins. And I am not sure if the related cracks where from position pins in the beginning when they had issues with the frames or not.

                    But thanks for the link.
