          Have you seen http://www.mouseguns.com?

There is a handy chart at:

But you'll need to cross-reference that with the CA-legal list.

I like the Kahr PM40, if you really want to punch big holes try the new Kahr PM45.

Have you considered the GLOCK 26? Not super tiny, but maybe tiny enough?

Best size to power ratio pistol IMO is the Kahr mk40. Smallest 40 I have ever seen.

i picked up one for a little over $150 its a great shooter and next to my NAA's its the smallest gun I own.

I believe that the .22 is a great personal defense gun if size is a issue. I usualy practice hitting the throat of a target as this is where I would most likely do the most damage to a attacker. Remeber its not about caliber its about shot placement. I have heard of people getting 7 rounds shot into them with a 1911 and still being able to attack. While a little old lady with a .22 managed to drop a attacker dead with one shot. Its not the gun its how you use.

That would be Para Ord, not Kimber.

I don't know if it is the SMALLEST, but I do know it is the smallest 10 round .45 in the world. To give you an idea, this is it's data compared to the ONLY other .45 listed in the pdf posted above:

                          AMT Backup .45
                          Overall length: 5.7"
                          Overall Height: 4.1"
                          Weight: 24 oz

                          Para Ordnance Nite Hawg
                          Overall length: 6.5"
                          Overall Height: 4.5"
                          Weight: 24 oz

So for ~20% more surface area you get double the rounds. It achieves this by being a double stack 1911 design; one of the few double stack 1911s available in California new.

My vote for a very small reliable auto goes to the Seecamp LWS 32, in terms of what is certified for California sale.
