Suggest a case for carrying multiple pistols

So I guess this is a good problem to have, but I've got 5 pistols and lugging them to the range in separate carrying cases is a real pain. I don't need to carry them all all the time but I plan on taking a couple 9mm and a .22 most of the time. So I'm looking for something that can store multiple pistols that I can take to the range.

Also, if the new case is suitable for long-term storage that would be great.

I was looking at the Pelican line. I'd rather not use foam long-term storage (people say it collects moisture/promotes rust) but I haven't seen anything that didn't use foam. The Pelican cases seem like they would work.

I should mention I'm kind of cheap as well. Cheaper than Pelican would be good.

Gun-Ho makes a range/gun box that can hold up to 5 guns plus shooting gear. They have several different models, I think, one holds 3, another 4 and the last 5 guns.

These boxes have a special gun holding tray that slides in/out of the box itself and a thumb screw that tightens to lock all of the guns in place while carrying/transporting. I suppose that you could use it for long term storage, it locks too.

Pachmyr used to make them as well, but they no longer do. If you find one of theirs, they are usually more money than a new Gun-Ho.

IIRC, they run around $130 or so.

    Google em up.

    Good Luck!

Look into a range bag instead. You can carry other range gear along with your rifles. Padded cases can also slip inside the dividers.

        Look into I-Shot.

You can also get thinner sleeves/pouches to "individually wrap" each gun, then throw all of these sleeves into one lockable outer bag.

Gun Ho's are pretty expensive if you can find one.

I just bought a four gun Sportlock Range Box for $84. I've taken it out once and I like it so far. I'd been looking for a Pachmayr one for the longest and hadn't found one. Of course after I ordered mine I found a Pachmayr on at the Cal Expo Gun Show last weekend.

I bought one of these from Sportsman Guide a few months ago.
Holds 4 pistols, (5 if you work it out right), and won't break your bank.
Has a "combo lock" on it too, to keep it legal while traveling.
                Works great.
                I don't work for those guys either...I'm retired...just a plug for a good product.

                Not Over.

Plano makes a double layer range box that you can get at walmart for 20 and it comes with a free range bag too. You could fit all 5 in it and make your trips easy peesy.

Here's my set up for the range/short term storage/air travel: Pelican 1495 case with remington mini dehumidifier... I guess you could use a silicon sock for each handgun if you are worried about the foam. Long term storage... get a safe.

+1 on iShot bags. I have SIG rangebag which is practically iShot bag with SIG logo on it. It works really well.

I don't care how my guns look when being transported. Here is what I do (I am low tech/low overhead). I stick each handgun into a soft case (with padding) and I stick them all into an ammo can. Ammo goes in another ammo can. If I'm not carrying much ammo, everything goes in one ammo can. Costs $9 per soft case, cheaper if you buy a bunch. No scratches so far and it is easy to pickup an ammo can in each hand. All that foam only attracts moisture. Looks great I admit but I don't pretend to be a hitman or any such movie role.

Try a small rifle case . Bass pro has them for 20-40 bucks . I can get about 7 pistols in mine.

I have a couple of these also, and they're very functional for the price. I like the resettable combo lock too, no keys to lose. I'll have to try the double-sided one, mine are single-sided.

I always take a range bag also when i go shooting, and I like using military flying helmet bags to hold all my ammo and spare muffs for friends.
