Is this normal for my glock 19?

When I put the glock back together after its clean the guide rod stays on the half moon shaped thing on the barrel where it is supposed to be. When I take the gun apart again right after to look, the guide rod is not set completely in the half moon but instead only half of the rod is in the half circle. Will the rod align it self again when I shoot? Is this normal? Or am I just over thinking it?

Yup it shoots, but was just wondering if it was normal. Does anyone notice that with their glocks?

Yes, it is 100% normal. The notch in the barrel is only there to ensure proper installation. The spring rests against the frame once the slide is reinstalled.

The guide rod on my 17 would jump out sometimes. It's plastic and it's compressing and deflecting. I have a Stainless rod now

Metal guide rods are completely unnecessary, but to each his own.

Both of my 19 and 30 do that - the rod is slightly out of that slot when the slides are removed from the frame. I just make certain that the rod is placed on the slot when placing the slide back onto the frame. So, I too, think it's normal.

I agree, but the SS guide rod also makes it easy to swap out recoil springs.

I don't own a glock yet, but I notice my MP45 does that as well. but she still goes bang! wish I had a g19 =)

Good to hear, my Glock 23 does the same s*** after I cleaned it for the first time I noticed it. I havent gotten to shoot it since but it should work.

Perfectly normal, one of the many quirks of owning a Glock.

Same thing happens with my Sigs and my Glock. I think nearly all recoil-operated semi-autos would see this behavior, as the spring guide starts out installed against the barrel, but we all know the barrel moves freely during firing. So the guide would have to then be transferred to the locking block instead of against the barrel some time during the firing cycle.
