    STILL stumped by the laws....

I've read everything I can find and some questions remain about CA gun law. From the sticky on rostered guns,

"Practically, what does it mean when a gun is NOT on the Roster, or a manufacturer lets one fall off the Roster?
    Yes.

LEOs can buy them. Someone can move into California as a legal owner of one or many handguns not on the Roster and bring them into the state. Any California resident can transfer a non-Roster handgun to another California resident using Private Party Transfer. That has to happen at an FFL dealer, but the Roster does not apply to PPT."

So according to that, a resident of another state can purchase a handgun in another state and bring a handgun here that's not on the roster, and legally own it.

Does that former resident of another state, who purchased out of state and came here, have to register that gun in CA?

Is a person required to register all their handguns in California when they move here?

    Thanks!

You have 60 days to register all your handguns when you move to Ca.

      Thanks, Frank!

After looking for a long time I just stumbled on NRA info, same as what you've said:

So that only leaves the question of an out of state resident bringing a non-rostered gun into the state and possessing it here.

It would have to be registered, but it would not have to comply with the Handgun Roster, because it is not being sold or transferred or offered for sale?

            Correct.

And once it is in CA and registered, you can legally sell it here by PPT, but only with a dealer doing the paperwork / background check / 10 day wait for the buyer.

The gun actually doesn't have to be registered to sell it. Say you move here and get your California ID, but haven't registered the gun yet. You can still PPT the gun. It will get registered to the new owner when he does the DROS.

The law says you have 60 days, but it is also written in the same law that you cannot get in trouble for not having a registered gun if the only way it is found out you have not registered it, is by it getting registered.

Oh no, the whole room is spinning again, I, I ...I think I'm gonna barf......

Now that one is a gem, a true pearl of incredible logic. Thanks for the added info!

                And thanks to everybody for clarifying the murky depths of anti-gunner double-speak, "He said-she said-I said-I didn't say I said that-and I don't-but not saying I didn't-and I might-or already did-and it's a felony anyway."

                  That is correct.

An out of state resident can't simply bring in handguns for sale, but an individual moving here from out of state could bring an umlimited number of handguns with them when they move in.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

So if anyone is planning to move here, I want an AK pistol on an NDS receiver.

CA gun laws need to be destroyed and rebuilt.

An individual moving here isn't exempt from the AW restrictions, so an AK pistol would have to be in a CA. compliant configuration when it was brought into the state and registered.
