    S&W 325 your thoughts

I saw a S&W 325 (.45acp) 2-1/2 inch barrel. This thing is super light...I know that there will be extra recoil when shooting .45acp...but has anyone out there have any personal experience? I saw this in a store...so no firing it.

Realistically if you like this lightweight gun style (alloy revolver in 45acp) you should be looking at the other 325 (I think 325PD but not sure). I'm pretty sure this gun is also CA-compliant

IMHO you really want 3" or more of bbl length; if you have a need for shorter bbl then the overall size of this N-frame is probably too large anyway even without considering bbl length.

The 325 I am writing about has a 4" bbl. I myself am tempted by this gun even though I own a 625 w/4" bbl

The new S&W 2-piece bbls are very accurate (but most S&W wheelgun bbls these days are very very good anyway).

Yes, there will be more kick. However, my 625 doesn't feel that heavy to me, and shooting it w/std 230gr ball feels like a kid's pop gun to me, so perhaps the lighter alloy gun won't be too bad....

For now it would be just the cool factor...seeing that it's probably impossible for a CCW for L.A. County. I feel that the .45 would be a great defense round, and I like the idea of a revolver for 'panic-stricken' home defense, the simplicity of the action. I've had classes in the 1911 and the clearing of jams..but I don't know if everything will come together if a jam on a semi-auto would occur during an extreme stressful situation.

I know weight shouldn't be an issue since the primary purpose is home defense...but just in case if CCW's would be easier to obtain in the future, then I would already have it.
