    AR pistol uppers

Ok, I have a pistol lower coming from Anvil Arms. My problem now is what to put on it. Part of me wants the 7 1/2 inch barrel, just because it is so short. But I would like to get the most out of the cartridge that I can in a pistol sized package, so another part of me is leaning towards a 10 1/2 or 11 1/2 inch barrel instead. What are your thoughts on this? Anybody? And who makes a relatively inexpensive upper? One that actually works. I know I can get an 11 1/2 inch one from Anvil in the mid $500 range. But what are my other options? Aside from Model 1 Sales, who are now all they way up to last February's orders...

Yeah, but I can get an Anvil Arms upper with all their standard goodies for $525. I appreciate the offer, but I am looking to see if I can find anything that is cheaper, but still has all of the same standard features (chrome lined bore/bcg, M4 feed ramps, carpenter steel bolt, etc...)

Del-ton has 11.5 complete uppers with bcg and charging handle.

Is about cheap as they go.

A couple here on CGN has the Diablo Upper on their AR Pistols and seem to like it: http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/v...ory=11#details

They did mention they had to use a wolf heavy hammer spring though, which was suggested by PWS.

I know not really in the price range you specified but if didn't go with the Sig P556 I would have gone with that upper

How do you have a new pistol lower on the way to you when you don't yet have the upper? Are you having it sent to an FFL? If so, mind me asking who and are they going to assemble the upper on the lower for you?

I custom my built my Ar pistol with a DPMS 7.5" barrel. Purchased it from JSE. Functioned reliably with 400 rds of wolf and misc. brass ammo.
I should have gone with CMMG 9mm pistol upper. A la MP5 sort of.

**front sight is on backwards** thought it look cool like that. Swapped out iron sights for MBUS.

I have a 7.5, and had a 10.5. I definately like the way the 7.5 handles over the 10.5, just lighter, qucker. Saying that, the 10.5 was more reliable. I could but anything through it with no problem. The 7.5 is a snob and only want pmags (lucky that all I have now) and decent ammo (no russia stuff). I kept the 7.5 so that's my recommendation.

Anvil arms is sending the complete lower with a BB and bobsled. The dealer said it wasn't a problem. Worst case, I slap a 16" upper on it when I get there. It is no different than getting a contender. We'll see if it goes off like it is supposed to, or if any problems come up. I can't have a pistol upper until I actually have a pistol lower, or I could get nailed for having all the parts to make an SBR, which would be bad.

"constructive possesion" is such a crock in my book. i mean it isnt illegal to have a shotgun and a hacksaw, even though those two things when used in the right fashion can make a freakin sawed off shotgun. it doesnt mean im going to saw off my barrel. it just makes me angry. as soon as i get my registered ar pistol, im swear im going to buy a dozen uppers just because i can.

First you are chopping up historic vintage rifles and sticking them in cheap and nasty looking plastic "dildo" stocks that look like some kind of futuristic sex toy that gay space aliens stick up each other's butts.

if you built an ar that can't shoot wolf you should have it looked at

I recommend a 10.5" barrel. LMT makes a complete factory 10.5" upper that works great.

While it may be a crock, just like 922(r), Mrs. Monkeyboy would freakin kill me if I got busted for doing something stupid and getting arrested. I see no point in pushing the envelope on something like this. I am just getting the lower to avoid the whole issue. And to get another toy to play with. Mustn't forget that part... Besides, if the laws ever change, I'll be all set to go with a SBR. Just send in the paperwork, and wait for the tax stamp. (a guy can dream, can't he?)

p.s. Hoodrat, I am holding off on mentioning the FFL until everything is done. I have not used them before, and I am waiting to see how well they handle this.
