    1911 Blues!!!

Well needless to say I am very dissapointed in my first 1911 purchase. Couldn't examine it when I first purchased it found it to be all scratched up. Now come to find slide and barrel are binding so tight that it literally has to be hand cycled each round. So I sent it to Para Ord which cost me an additional $60.00 0n top of the $960.00 price tag and not to mention the $80.00 in ammo and range fees just to find out the thing doesn't work. Anyone else singing the 1911 blues? Think I may just sell it when I get it back for a Springfield Loaded 1911.

Well when first fired rounds would not even clear the ejector. I was using reloads at the time and they would blow the slide back about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch the guys at the range recommended thurough cleaning so I did and lubed up any metal on meatl areas. Second time at range slide and binding so tight Couldn't even get through one mag also ejector would not let go of spent casing. Maybe needed remilling of slide by mfg.

Got a model #? Is it Para's Power extractor or is it an internal extractor?

Should be re-titled "PARA ORDNANCE BLUES"...

I agree with the "para ordnance blues". The only 1911 pistol problem I had was with my P12 PO. All my other 1911s (Colts, Springs, Kimbers, Norinco, Les Baer) are golden!

Sounds like you got a bad one, it happens unfortunately. I'd call Para and get them to pay for shipping and repairs.

A friend had a mil-spec like mine and had constant FTF problems. He had to polish the feed ramp and chamber ramp to get it working correctly.

Try cleaning the gun again, lube well and DON'T use reloads. Give us a report back.

remove the recoil spring and cycle the slide by hand maybe you can find what is binding. sounds like maybe it may have some parts switched at the store some how, maybe someone had a few apart at the same time at the store

Unfortunate, I've had a PO 7.45 LDA since '02 with no problems of any type. Fit, finish and function all excellent and it eats whatever I feed it. I'd have no qualms about recommending Para to anyone. Maybe the OP got the Friday end of shift assembly.

No offense intended (since I don't know how much experience you have with 1911's), but are you certain the pistol was assembled correctly? Maybe when you put the slidestop in you missed the barrel link. Can you put the slide on the frame WITHOUT the barrel, spring and slidestop to see if the slide runs on the rails. Difficult to imagine how a pistol would leave the factory and will not run the rails and a basic function check.

My guess is that it is either the slide was somehow damaged causing binding, or the reloads are the problem. Please try with some factory fresh hardball ammo. I use cheap aluminum blaser, blaser brass, mag tech, WW, and American Eagle (thinkk that if Federal) they all work without a hitch. Let us know what happens with factory ammo and good luck!
