    Selling Handguns,

I have a few questions that I couldn't find the answers for/ can't for the life of me remember....

My father is going to transfer me some handguns, I think there are 5 in total.. while these apply toward the "no more than 6 a year" law in regards to selling?

also I know there are a few members that have sold more than 6 in a year, what is the process that one must go through in order to do so legally?

As always thanks in advance for the great info!

I don't believe PPTs count as a "purchase"...............

I'm anxious to see the responses to this. I've noticed some pretty intense activity by our members.

It's the sales transactions that count. You can transfer any amount of guns in one transaction and it'll still count as 1 of the 6.

I know a few have passed the 6 mark. Unless your selling many more than allowed year after year. I wouldn't sweat it. As long as it's all done legally via FFL, this shouldn't be an issue.

Stan it is the number of transactions per year that are limited, not the number of guns. If you sell 5 guns at once (one transaction), that's one of your 6... But I don''t think PPTs count. Your FFL should square this up for you.

PPT's counts as a sale. aren't you "selling" it to someone else?

so dads giving you some guns, that is a family transfer, no count there, selling well I've bought more then 6 in one at a time transactions in a year and have not been called to the principle office yet.
                    I don't know?

If your father is giving you the guns you don't even need to go thru an FFL. You can fill out the "Intra-familial" transfer form available on the DOJ web site, send them the $19 per gun fee, and be done with it

Well that depends, if you put the pistol up on consignment then No its not a sale, (so ive been told)

If you walk in and do a PPT to another person than thats one 'point'

I figured that the Itra famillial transfer didnt count as a point but with these crazy rules Id much rather be safe than sorry...

                              Thanks Chris,

I will be doing the intra famillial transfer which im not worried about a point, but He has already sold 3 pistols in the 2009 calander year,

Now for his points to "reset" will he have to wait for the 2010 calader year or month by month?
