    Ruger Repair Rocks!!!

So I had problems with a recently acquired 1977 stainless blackhawk. After taking her to the range and putting 200 rds down range I noticed heavy leading on the face of the forcing cone. At home with further inspection I found lead smathered on the front end of the cylinder & on either side of the forcing cone on the frame.

So sent it back to ruger and they told me they would take care of it. A week or two later I received a call from Ruger explaining that part of my problem was the barrel to cylinder gap & that they would have to replace my barrel. Now I had 6.5" but really always wanted the 4-5/8, so I asked them if they could substitute the shorter barrel. They told me "no problem"!!!
So I just got her back and the work order reads:
    Barrel - Replaced
    Base Pin - Replaced
    Pivot Pins - Replaced
    Gate Spring - Replaced
    Timing - Repared
    Trigger Pull - Repaired
On top of that.....(being stainless) They buffed out 30+ years of dings and scratchs! I now have a beautiful brand new 4-5/8 blackhawk!! Couldn't be more pleased.
    RUGER ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had good service from Ruger also. Easy to talk to on the phone and quick turn around.
Always remember to pillage before you burn.

My opinion based on recent personal experiences is that the gunsmiths at ruger are absolute beginners or so old they dont care.. Ive sent my NEW mark 3 hunter back twice for the same problem they never fixed, they busted the trigger the first time and the second time failed to fix either things.. They were quick the second time I dont think they even worked it.

        My opinion..

That sucks This is my third time using Ruger's warranty dept. & they have always been very courteous & gone the extra mile for me! Its a pleasure dealing with a company that stands behind their product

That's nice that the warranty follows the gun and not the owner!

If my memory serves, Ruger expresses no warranty on their products........
But they do want to keep the good Ruger name associated with quality.

The vast majority of all dealings with Ruger service I've ever heard of have been positive.

I cannot however take advantage of it - my beloved New Vaquero has been modded severely enough that I don't think it can ever see the Ruger factory again. The topstrap has had a small hole drilled and tapped for my mega-funky sights, plus it wears an SBH hammer and spring kit.

But that's OK. Parts are plentiful and cheap, it's easy to work on, I can keep it running my ownself. My only regret is that I'll have to do my own re-finish as the factory fake-blue is just horrible - and for most customers, Ruger will re-do those as plain blue all over at no charge upon request. But again, my gun is too modded to ever go back.

Meh. No problem. I love the gun, love my mods .

For those who have been "Ruger haters" in the past, the reality is, Bill Ruger is dead and while they haven't apologized for his behavior, they've buried his practices with him. They no longer lobby against us EVER, they now make aggressive, hardcore, full-on self defense hardware in revolver (LCR), pistol (LCP and SR9) and rifle (the new "black rifle") with more expected soon. We will VERY likely start seeing "outright combat variants" of the SP101 and/or GP100 soon enough - dark finishes, underbarrel rails, etc. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if we see a "combat Alaskan" - 8-shot lightweight 357 anyone?

You know what would really, REALLY rock? A modernized, combat-oriented SA. There'd be people mental enough to want one. Like me . Alloy grip frame, ultra-light seven or possibly eight-shot cylinder in 357, fluted 4" barrel to drop the weight, serious sights...oh hell yeah. Ship it with all three hammers fitted and with instructions for installation: standard, SBH/Montado and Bisley.

Out-of-control sick and twisted, man .

I would love a combat oriented single-action revolver.

I've been eyeing the 50th anniversary Blackhawk for a while now just because it's such a low cost 44 caliber revolver.

Rifles are handled by a different group than handguns. You'd need to contact them to see. I've heard complaints about rifle warranty work in the past, but don't know any details, and have never needed Ruger rifle work.

I had a similar experience with my 150 series (first gen) Security Six snubby, bought used, and long out of production. A screw backed out on the cylinder release button and locked it up (unloaded, fortunately).

They fixed it, replaced several other parts, and sent it back to me at no charge. The only cost was shipping to them, and turnaround time was about 2 weeks, IIRC.

                          WOW

ive also had SEVERAL dealings with rugers warranty department, and they have always bent over backwards to make sure everything was fixed, and shipped back right away, and no matter what ive sent the gun in for they have always went completely thru it, no charge, and ive always gotten my guns back within a few days, most times the same WEEK it went to them.

I know people who have sent them guns that looked like they were ran over by a sherman tank, and they have fixed them good as brand new or replaced them, no charge

Good to hear that if my GP100 ever breaks down (very unlikely, but never know), I'll have good service...
