From what I gathered, the Buckmarks variations are basically all the same other than the barrel, sights, finish, grips, etc. with the exception of the high end variants (Sihouette). And in my case I was going to upgrade the barrel, sights and grips so I got the cheapest model and just swapped out the parts with Tacsol parts and tuned the trigger. Now it's my kid's favorite gun and I think she's keeping it.

So if you're upgrading or might upgrade, get the cheapest model and save the money for the parts. Regardless of which model, they all shoot pretty good out of a box so what model and what you want to come with the gun is pretty much a personal thing. Upgrade parts are not as numerous as with the Ruger, at least the barrel is swapable on the Buckmark

But there is a dilemma about buying cheap and then swapping out stuff with after market.. the end cost will be typically much higher than if you bought one of the models with the features you want.

Albeit the Tactical Solutions barrel to some degree is probably more accurate, it's cost is almost half of what a Buckmark is alone so you have to ask yourself, for the added cost, do I really need that additional accuracy, or is it just the tricked out looks it lends to a Buckmark and plan your budget accordingly.

I have an older Bullseye Target model with the heavy flutted barrel... it shoots better than what my eyes can manage with iron sights, which is why I added an optical sight. It is a tack driver right from the box, and since the store had a few in stock, they let me check the trigger pull on them and let me pick the "best of the breed", so mine has an exceptional trigger. That shop has long since closed and I sure miss that degree of customer service.

If I were using it in the field, and needed a holster, I would have bought one with a slab sided barrel. I've since learned that finding a holster to fit the larger profile bull barrel is a challenge, especially when equiped with optics.

So you can't go wrong with your choice of model, as long as it meets what your particular need/want is.

I sure like the looks of those newer style grips, I to need to look at them more to possibly replace the factory wood that came on mine... they just don't fit my hand quite right.

All function the same but level of finish varies with $.

These are excellent pistols but are more ammo picky than Rugers. When comparing pricing between ruger and browning remember to factor in that the browning comes with one mag. I've found that I need minimum of 2 mags for any range gun.

Buckmark triggers are excellent and the mags work with the Ultimate Clip Loader which is a must have imo.

I like the looks and style of the basic camper model.

Here is my Buckmark it is the camper model. Probably my favorite handgun just plain fun to shoot. Great on squirrels. Like shooting it more than my Kimber Stainless 2. However the plastic rear sight is garbage make sure and get one with a metal sight unless you are planing on putting an optic on it.

I dunno, I've never been much for guns. I mean, sure, we have the usual gun by the door, another near the TV, one in the kitchen, and another in the bedroom...and several others laying around. For the most part though, we keep our home free of guns. We are peace loving folks.

Is stainless a necessity? Im interested in the hunter model. Do you lose any sort of warranty if you start swapping out parts or modding it?

Which ever you like. My preference are those with the larger URX or UDX grips.

I've got a Buckmark Camper and am very happy with it. It's very accurate and comfortable to shoot, and shoots everything I feed it. After doing the Heggis flip, the trigger is plenty light enough for me. It's one of my favorite pistols.

Isn't that like saying all AR's are basically the same...except for the barrels, sights, finish, grips etc.

I had a camper just like the first one that is pictured above. It was a great lil plinker. I sold it to fund my SPR build.

Don't forget that you can only buy what the ca doj allows you to buy. Check the "safe" handgun list. The one I want isn't on it.
