    German Handgun Ban

Not sure if this is the right place to post but got an email from two sources in Germany that the Bundestag is meeting to discuss the banning of all handguns and possibly all guns.

But is seems handguns for sure are on the hot list since the school shooting earlier this year.

Several people from Nills Grips are travelling the several hundred kilometres to the Reichstag in Berlin to testify against this looming ban.

Not a clue what we can do from here, but maybe send positive thoughts?
I'm going to write the Chancellor an email. Not sure if it will make any difference at all, especially coming from an American.

That's it, just thought to let you all know.

I know someone in Germany who's a shooter and has some nice guns. Let me ask him what this is all about. As of now, gun ownership is already restricted. Guns need to have sporting or target shooting purposes. Guns are stored at local gun clubs and/or police station (not sure about the police station). I don't think people are allowed to bring guns home at all.

Poor Germans, they still don't realize that the old Nazi gun control laws helped put them in power in the first place. And soon when all the Germans are bred out by immigrants they won't have guns to prevent the new paradigm from victimizing them the way the Jews and other enemies of the state were 70 years ago.

      Silly Euros!

Didn't this happen in Germany in 1938? People need to pay more attention during History class...

I was under the impression that handguns were very restricted and shotguns/rifles were fairly common in the country side. At least that's how I was told by my grandma and what I remember from visiting there.

I'd like to know as well. I do know that Switzerland is starting to get restrictive...

Interesting, a shooting buddy of mine had an exchange student from Germany stay with his family this summer. We took the kids shooting when we heard that Germans werent allowed to own guns according to the student.

A firearms ownership license (Waffenbesitzkarte) must be obtained before a weapon can be purchased. Owners of multiple firearms need separate ownership licenses for every single firearm they own. It entitles owners to purchase firearms and handle them on their own property and any private property with property owner consent. On public premises, a licensed firearm must be transported unloaded and in a stable, fully enclosing, locked container. A weapons ownership license does not entitle the owner to shoot the weapon or carry it on public premises without the prescribed container. Firearms ownership licenses are valid three years or less, and owners must obtain mandatory insurance and a means to securely store the weapon on their premises (a weapons locker.) Blanket ownership licenses are sometimes issued to arms dealers.

I've visited Germany a few times in the past three years and there are restrictions, but not an absolute abolition. A person needs to take a proficiency course, have a clean record and maintain firearms in a safe except when traveling to and from the hunting site or firing range.
Strict but not impossible. Kind of like California and Illinois. There is a limit to hand guns but when I asked about rifles the person I know who is a hunter said he was sure other hunters had more than two or three rifles and shotguns but he only needed one shotgun and two rifles for everything he hunts. His gear was from the 1950's and 60's. Except the family heirloom, a damascus barreled shotgun that his father had buried in the woods so the soldiers wouldn't get it in '45. It was not in very good shape but it was from his grandfather to his father none the less.
Germany is crawling with liberals right now, and the kind that want to control every aspect of life so everyone is able to have the most perfect chance. Under their rules of course.
I'll email and see what's up.

Remember, nothing happened in Germany between 1939 and 1945:

Man, that just makes me feel worse for being in CA now, comparing it to Germany... yeah...

Just exchanged messages with my source in Germany, he could not find any evidence of this action on the part of German government. He would like to call it "busted"...for now.
