.45Auto Vs. .45ACP Whats The Difference?
Collapse

45 Auto and 45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) are the same thing.
The law for magazines are the same for both rifle and pistol mags. No, I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande. -
"45 auto" is a generic term that means "45ACP".
There's a new 45 round for automatic pistols, called the 45GAP ("Glock automatic pistol" that is a physically shorter round with supposedly same performance. It's a new round and it remains to be seen if this will get any marketplace traction besides Glock.
You cannot acquire new hicap magazines (those over 10 rounds) in CA. If you owned exsiting hicap magazines in CA before 1 Jan 2000, you can retain and use them. Otherwise its 10 rounds or less.

40 is cheaper, I believe, but 45 is more fun in my opinion, and the opinion of many.Originally posted by Rugermanthanks guys. just wanted to make sure. AND one more thing. which is cheaper and/or fun the shoot? .40S&W or .45ACP
It's not as loud, the recoil isn't as sharp, and there are many excellent weapons designed around 45. The 1911 design comes to mind.Comment

Both of these rounds are fun to shoot if you looking for a first gun for target or defense the 40 s&w is a great choice the ammo is a little cheaper so you can shoot more.Originally posted by Rugermanthanks guys. just wanted to make sure. [QUOTE=Slamer]I once bought some brass from an E-bay for "45 AUTO" and it turned out as "45 AUTO RIM" ...same dimensions as ACP but headspace is 516 rather than 480[/QUOTE
How much rimmed do you have? I'll trade you for 45acp if you want.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

so .40 is cheaper but .45 is more fun to shoot....... I'm looking for HD and an all around pistol maybe even for some rabbits. I 'm thinking about the Sig 220 Equinox but 1k is a little over the budget. i'm looking for around $600 so i was thinking the SA XD in .45 or .40S&W And does anyone here have the 4inch ported model?Comment

.45 Revolver or .45 Pistol??
What is the difference between rounds as I don't own one but have a friend who has a revolver and uses the moon clips. I know there is a rimmed round for the revolvers but what exactly is the difference or benefit?Originally posted by randyI move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.Originally posted by Walter Sobchak"Saturday, Donny, is Shabbos, the Jewish day of rest.
