    XD 40/357sig

I found a way to get some more fun out of my service XD-40. At the last Del Mar show picked up a drop in 357sig 5" ported barrel. Truly dropped in and just use the same slide spring and mag's as the 40SW. Porting does help reduce climb. I load ammo so now I can shoot a 90g haul'n A#@ 9mm bullet or a 180g 10mm thumper out of the same gun with a 60 second barrel change. Isn't that cool? But I'll still grab that 45 for SHTF.

I did much the same when I bought my sig 229. the .40 is cheaper to shoot but the .357 is awesome. I like the though of about the same performance of a .357 mag in a semi auto.

          At least with lighter bullets

I bought the 357sig barrel (match grade, stainless, ported) for $179 or 189? The company is efkfiredragon.com Mesa AZ. I had thought earlier about a Barsto ($209?) but didn't want to risk a mail order barrel in case it didn't drop in. When I saw this guy (the company owner) at the gunshow on a Sat. I knew I could take it home and try it and go back on Sun if there were problems, but all was good.
