I'm not really sure what your asking

First off your talking about Magazines not Clips

secondly if you legally own a 10+ rnd magazine you can use them
But If its in a fixed magazine rifle build you cant

To start, CA calls them 'large-capacity magazines'. The handgun in this scenario is somewhat irrelevant.

If you owned the magazines prior to Jan 1, 2000 you can use them now. You can even use those magazines in a gun other than the original as long as the magazines still functions in the originally intended weapon.

Be aware that large-capacity magazines are not okay to use in all weapons, regardless of when you first gained possession due to AW laws.

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall
also mean any of the following:
(2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine
with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
(5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the

Uh, there are other guns that can accidently be made into AWs besides ARs. BTW, there are AR handguns too!!!!!

If you inhereted the "high capacity ammunition feeding devices" before 1-1-00, you're fine. If you received them after that, you would have committed a felony. If that is the case, DO NOT comment on it. Instead, seek legal council. In the mean time, take the mags apart. If they are just parts that you received after 1-1-00, you're fine.

Answer - Yes.

To the new question:

Ammo is scarce because lots of people are buying it. Demand for ammo is greater than supply, so it is hard to find. Most ammo manufacturers are producing at full capacity, which is not enough to satisfy demand. Most ammo manufacturers are not going to invest in more equipment to produce more ammo, because eventually the demand for ammo will decrease, and the manufacturers will be stuck with bills for expensive equipment/employess and have to downsize.

I'm sure your next question will be: "Why are people buying so muich ammo?"

Answer - One possible reason is that many people are scared ammo will be regulated, and therefore hard/impossible to get later. So, they are stocking up.

Or, we're all bitter, so we're sticking to our guns and religion, to paraphrase one person.

+1. Yes there's a shortage, but i am finding 9mm and 45 more often in stores now. Be patient because this rush for ammo seems to be dying out.

There is tons of 9MM and .45 and .22lr on the shelves near me. The prices have gone up considerably.

Not around here, if anything I see lots of .40.

I haven't experienced a real shortage in my locale, but prices have nearly doubled in two years.

It can be tough to find cheap bulk .22LR around here but that's about it. I don't shoot a lot of .22LR anymore, unless I take a family member shooting that is less comfortable with the bigger booms, so it doesn't really affect me.

It's odd too about the .22LR because it used to be that was the easiest to find, for me.
