    PPT/ off list/ single shot/help

Scenario: Cop buys off list gun and keeps it for a month. Cop decides to sell gun to non cop buddy (PPT). Non cop buddy keeps gun for a month. Non cop buddy decides to sell gun to non cop Calguns member. Two non cops go to FFL to do PPT...

Does the gun need to be single shot for the transfer? Please only comment if you are 100% sure of what you are talking about. Thanks in advance.

    Not necessary for PPT.

PPT's are roster exempt. So, if the roster is the issue then no, the gun would not need to be single shot.

The reason people make handguns single shot is because they are buying them from an 01 FFL, in which the roster does apply. Single shot handguns are roster exempt.

So since PPT's are roster exempt anyway, no single shot modification is needed. 12132(a) PC

Golden State Tactical will only do it from COP to COP for the Intratec AB-10 claiming is has to be single shot...

you are good to go, as it has already been imported and sold via PPT.

If it is a true PPT, meaning both the buyer and the seller are present at the FFL , then the single shot sled is not needed.

However, since that weapon has a magazine outside out a grip there must be a maglock installed or it would otherwise be an assault weapon. It is now also limited to ten rounds with a fixed mag. 12276.1 PC

Ask them if PPT's are roster exempt. If they say yes, then I do not see the problem.

If they say that PPT's are not roster exempt ask them to cite the relevant PC or call the DOJ and ask if PPT's are roster exempt.

(I really hate saying call the DOJ as they are about as knowledgeable as a monkey, but for basic stuff I suppose they will answer correctly).

Lorax is correct. Apparently the whole single shot exemption is starting to conflate with the roster exemption on PPT's in the heads of some FFL's.

Don't be TOO hard on the FFL's making this mistake though - the fact they know about single shot means they're at least making SOME effort to understand things... they just haven't gotten 100% there yet.

I have been very polite with him and various other FFLs who will not do the PPT for whatever reason they felt like saying. I would not have gone through this if my usual FFL was open more than two days a week. Luckily, he is willing to open shop up on his day off to do the DROS. Problem solved. Thanks everyone
