Springfield Service target VS. Kimber custom target

Which would you prefer and why. They're both sub 1k, adjustable rear sight, lots of nice features like lowered ejection port, beveled magwell, and a handful of other goodies. Which do you like, do you have experience with and why.

Springfield has a better chance of being a reliable shooter out of the box.

Kimber's are hit and miss quality wise.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

The Kimber will likely have a better out of the box trigger and accuracy. The Springer has a better chance of being totally reliable out of the box. If you don't mind a third option look at a S&W. You'll get the out of the box reliability and lifetime warranty of the SA combined with the better trigger and generally slightly better accuracy of the Kimber. The best of both worlds.

Go with the springfield because of the warranty, and because I own a kimber and a springfield and you know whats happened.

What failed with your kimber. I hear mixed reviews about them. They seem to be owned by more "Elitist" types locally to me. I have not found that on this board whatsoever. (Those would be reserved for the wilson/nighthawk/Baer crowd!) Wish I could afford one! Anyway, Kimbers have seemed to be hit or miss with guys and they either love them or hate them where the springfield is kind of the F-150 of the gun world. They sell a ton, the warranty is good and you know what you're getting into before you buy it. (If you don't like ford, insert your preferred brand above) That said, I already have a basic 1911 thats good and sloppy as a mil-spec pistol from 1943 should be, but wanted something a little tighter tolerances that locks up nice and tight without play, and doesn't break the bank. Those two came to mind because they're a good bang for the buck but I've also looked at the Dan Wesson PM7 for the money and a few others. I'm basically going to limit myself to 1k on a pistol and the next one is going to be a 1911. I may sell off my motorcycle to support my gun habits so we'll see where it goes.
