    T/C AOW/ SBS question...

So, if one were to own a T/C bare pistol frame could they form an NFA trust and register it as an AOW...

I have paid attention to the SBS / AOW issue in CA, but this option never crossed my mind...

I know the AOW part would be an easy do since it has never had a shoulder stock attached to it.

Did they make T/C frames long enough ago to qualify for C&R status though?

    Thoughts??

There is a T/C Contender that is C & R eligible and IIRC it's a Steve Herrett model in 30 or 35 Herrett, not sure which. But, to remain C & R eligible maybe it must remain in its original configuration, yes? I suppose if not you could put a 14" bbl on a T/C Contender frame (C & R) and have a single shot SBR. Never thought of that. And I guess you could then go from C & R SBR back to a handgun?

I'm a little rusty on my AOW regs. Is an AOW greater than 26" OAL, greater than 16" bbl without a shoulder stock?

Seems to me you could take pretty much any T/C handgun frame, slap a 17" bbl on it and you have your AOW. I have a few 16.5" and 17" T/C barrels and I suppose could just yank them off the rifle frame and onto the pistol frame with a handgun stock of course. But a single shot AOW? Why?

what are you trying to accomplish by AOW'ing a Contender?

It would still need to be PG-only, no shoulder stock. You could add a VFG to it if you had a pre-approved Form 1 or Form 4 for it. Or, you could run a <18" smooth-bore shotgun barrel, but still no shoulder stock.

And there is no need for a AOW to be a C&R. That limitation only applies to SBS or SBR.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Think more along the lines of a 10 in 410 shotgun / 45LC barrel...
Maybe something in 12 guage just for S&G's

There is no 12ga option avialable for the T/C, so thats out.

You could run a 10" .410" only smoothbore barrel as an AOW, or if you wanted the .45/.410 regular barell, maybe you could add in a fold-down VFG to the barrel grip. That would be an AOW with a rifled barrel.

Anything is possible with a T/C frame. There are more custom barrels out there (shotgun also) than you can shake a stick at.

Just an idea that I found amusing...
