Colt "belly gun" Comments please

Finished this up about a week ago, didn't want to post it but what the hell. Built it out of a box 'o parts given to me by a failed gunsmithing student.

Specs:
Colt "official police" model .38 special
Python barrel 3 inch with rib removed (no front sight)
bobbed hammer
fitted new sideplate
sand blasted & Parkerized.

BTW trigger job feels like slicing warm butter

Nice, but I'd change out the grips for something more appropriate.

big hands, big feet, etc, the factory grips are just to small, the houge grips are too "Sticky". Still looking, maybe Hume, or hogue wood

Very Cool! even though I'm a Smith man, that's one nice wheelgun.

Only thing it needs is for the front of the trigger guard to be removed like the old Colt factory "Fitz" specials:

Looks great! I thought for a minute you chopped up a Python!
I did something similar years ago with a S&W 681. Made the frame a round butt,cut the barrel to 2 3/4 ". I used an orange shotgun bead for a front sight. It shot dead on with 158 gr. +P hollowpoints.

thanks for your support, I have considered the shotgun bead front sight,but, the goal was a no snag gun. As far as the grip goes, still looking, probably go with smooth wood to keep it slick, I need a real hand filler, so, something close to this shape.

thats a nice gun...very usable without having to worry about damaging the finish...i also dont like the grips at all but still you did a great job

put the factory grips back on and add a T-grip and you'll be a regular private dick.

just curious... working gun without a sight?
OK.. it has a good action and will light 'em off I assume...but a working gun without a sight..... OOOOooooo like a matchlock gun of old.... I get it now...or maybe I don't... I'd call it more of a very cool thing to have around that's like a gun and is cool to show to folks and show off the action and stuff....but not a working "self defense" gun...and +1 on the factory walnut type stocks with a tyler T grip

Ok I like shot AT the bad guy who happened to be like 15 yards away and I like practice alot but gee I don't like have like sights on my gun so it was more spray and pray and like I'm real sorry grandma was standing down by the lotto machine and took a 125gr hollow point in the guts by I was shooting in self defense and I really don't think I should have to pay grandma a coupla million bucks cause she is like in a colostomy bag and wheelchair thing...

but YMMV and to each his own... and my comments do not belittle the nice work done...enjoy your firearm.
