    CZ 75 SA - HD?

I have a shotgun and an XD45 already for home defense, so this is a purely hypothetical question, but what do y'all think about the CZ 75 SA variant as a home defense weapon?

I plan to pick up the single action CZ 75 with the idea that it would be a good target practice pistol. But I had the thought that my wife might prefer it to the XD (she hates shooting it) or the shotgun (she *really* hates shooting that one, though she does love the buckshot pattern when she gets a head shot on a target!).

Is a SAO pistol a bad idea, though? For liability reasons, would a DA/SA pistol be the way to go?

People have been using SAO pistols (1911 types, Browning High Powers) for years fior SD, a SAO 75 varient isn't
going to be any more of a liability issue than those two, so don't worry.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

It really comes down to the operator; any good quality pistol can be an effective and safe defensive weapon provided the operator is knowledgeable and skilled in it's proper use.

With proper training, why a SA pistol would not be a good HD pistol?

Any pistol (DA, SA, whatever) can be good for HD if you give it and yourself the time for proper training.

Thanks, B Strong! The liability issue was my concern. I probably should have made that a bit clearer.

As for proper training, I figure that a solid metal 9MM will be easier to handle than a polymer 45 and with the cheaper cost of ammo, shooting at the range a couple of times a week won't eat too much into my pocketbook.

If you're already in a situation where you have to shoot someone, does it really matter what you shoot them with? I actually have a CZ 75B SA and would use it for HD if I had to. Right now the house gun is a Glock 29 10mm. Some would argue 10mm is too powerful. But it's MY life I'm defending, so there's no such thing as 'too powerful' IMO.

If your wife is in a situation where she needs to "stop the threat", I say grab the nearest firearm and defend herself.
