    Non-1911 Single Stack .45?

My dad is looking for a gun in .45 but he's got pretty small hands so any double-stack is pretty much out of the question. To give you reference, his P226 is just small enough for him to handle, while the p220 is a bit bigger than he can handle.

He likes 1911s but he doesn't have the 1911 bug the way so many others do, so he's curious as to what else is out there.

Myself, I have no idea who else makes a single stack .45 so I'm curious as well. Any suggestions you guys have?

            +1 Glock 36

I have small hands and love mine. It fits really well. I also have the Pearce extension so I don't get annoying pinky-pinch.

I was worried about the same thing when looking for a SA/DA .45 handgun. I got a P220R and changed the grips to the Sig 'slim' grips and it feels much better for me. You can also have the short trigger installed which will bring back the trigger as well, if the slim grips don't cut it.

Very cool, thanks for the suggestions guys.

I think the 220 may be too big for him even with the slim grips, but I suppose it's always an option, he really likes his 226 and I imagine he'd like to get another Sig.

                      sig 220

since he's already familiar with the p226 a p220 would be a natural choice.

my sigs are my favorite shooters:

                      p228
                      p220
                      mosquito

                      p230 for ccw
Always remember to pillage before you burn.

                        P220 smaller grip than P226

I have the P226 and the P220, and the P220 definitely has the thinner grip of the two. So if your dad can manage a P226 grip, he will be more comfortable with a P220 grip.

Other possibilities in single stack .45s that are not 1911s would include the Ruger P345 and the S&W 457S.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I wonder if it was just because he can't find any without hogue grips. I'll have him look around for one without hogues to see if he likes it.

There's always the battery-operated drill look:

They work okay, but they're huge, heavy, and balance a bit strangely. Oh, and I don't think this is on your 'special' list.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

The Kahr P45 would be my pick:
