Legal to purchase ammo from the web?

Pardon me if this is a dumb question but is this legal to purchase ammo from the web and ship them into California? If it is legal, anything I need to pay attention to? Thank you.

Yes, as long as they are not tracers, APs, or explosives. Some vendors such as Sportsman Guide will not ship to Marin, Napa, Yolo, and Ventura counties.

Many suppliers of Ammo will require that you provide proof of age. No under 18 rules and regs are in affect in most places.

Usually, cost to ship ammo negates most out of state deals for me.

      Best of luck

It doesn't for me! I seem to stay upset with Wally World and a few others. I'm glad to send my business somewhere else until they stop pandering to Kali.

You might feel differently when you find yourself slogging through slush and mud to retrieve your wet target. Now that's a "cold range".

I've bought mail order from CenturyArms for years, a flat $12.50 shipping fee no matter how much you order ($75 minimum) really saves money to the West Coast. Most of my 8mm, .308 and 7,62X54r has been bought from Century.

J&G Sales in Arizona is another good company to deal with for us Californians. The are VERY pro-2ndAmendment and their proximity to California lowers both the shipping time and shipping cost.

They usually have a good mix of surplus and cheaper eastern European commercial ammo. They also carry Federal hunting and match ammo.

Century Arms and AIM surplus will not ship any ammo to L.A. or Orange County either...

I recommend a Texas vendor named Cheaper than Dirt for ammo. Shipping is free if you buy at least $150 worth. Here is a link:

If you spend less that $150 at Cheaper Than Dirt, they only charge $5.99 if in continental US.

I've used http://www.ammoman.com for about a year now, and shipping is FREE, but it comes from Jersey so it takes a few days. I've also done pick-up/will-call at J & G in Prescott AZ while down there and they are very helpful and pro-gun. It's always nice to drop in and see all the fun stuff (rifles) up on the wall we aren't able to have in our state.
