Glock 24 Illegal in CA??

Is it true that the Glock 24 is illegal in CA?

The G24 is not illegal. However, as the G34 and G35s were introduced, the G24 was discontinued.
The G24 is not on the approved list and any purchase in CA must be a PPT, but if you can find one, it is for sure legal.

The Glock 24 is not on the CA Approved Handguns Roster. What this means is that it can not be sold. You can not have it sent from out of state to your FFL either.

They're not illegal to own, but it's difficult to get one. If someone moves to the state and brings one with him, you can buy it from him legally (PPT transactions are exempt from the roster requirement). You could also move, buy it in another state, and move back.

If glock modifies the G24 and gets it on the roster, then you can buy it just like any other gun, but this is unlikely seeing as it's been discontinued

Yeah I'm just trying to finish by Glock collection by adding the G24 to my collection. I see plenty of G24's out of state bet never in CA. I guess the search will continue.

In terms of models, only the Glock 17L, 24, and 24C are not California-certified. Of course, the Glock 18 isn't either, for much more obvious reasons. And, most of the OD-frame ones are certified for sale, with the exception of the "C" models and the Glock 38. The Glock 17L, 24, and 24C are not illegal, because they don't have any "assault weapon" characteristics, but simply are not certified for sale. If you find one in-state, it can be legally acquired through a PPT, which are exempt from the certification requirement.

Of these three, I own a Glock 17L. And, before anyone asks, it is not for sale.

Glock has discussed putting the 24 back in production, or limited production runs. It's been on their website in recent past as a viable catalog item. There has been a lot of call for its return, and not just from CA consumers. I have one and won't part with it at any cost (for now).

If you have a G17 and also want the G17L, just find a seller out of state, have him mail you the G17L slide, mail him the G17 slide, and then transfer the pistol into California as a "G17," which is certainly is.

I am curious why anyone would want a 17L over a 34 or a 24 over a 35. How are they better than what's in production?

Oddly enough, I have a friend who was finishing up his collection. Then he found a guy with a Glock 28 (.380) who bought it used from a dealer who got it fras part of a PD trade.

Now he's going nuts trying to find a 25 and a 28. I don't have the heart to show him that list of special edition guns that Glock produced...
