    S&W M41 barrel lngth?

I am about ready to purchase one. Trying to decide on barrel length 5.5 or 7 inch. Range use only not for hunting. Any comments or reccomendations appreciated.

I'd probably go for the 7" barrel because of the longer sight radius. If you plan on scoping it, the shorter barrel may make it balance better.

I have both a 5" and 7.25" barreled HS Trophys. They both balance the same, but the sight picture on the longer barrel is easier on my crappy eyes.

I've shot a 7.25" barrelled Model 41 for the last 37 years (no kidding). For the range, it's a great gun and I'd highly recommend that barrel length...but maybe I'm just used to it by now.

I'd go with 7" as well. For range use, you don't have to worry about how heavy it is to carry. Rather, the weight will make it more pleasant to shoot for fun.

Buy it with the 7" and get the 5.5" later on.

I have an older (mid '60s) M41 with the 7" and absolutely love it.
