    Smith & Wesson 4506 Question

I have a S&W 4506 already and I have a chance to get another. However, I am tight on cash but what is interesting me is the fact that the other has an anodized (black) hammer and trigger whereas mine does not. Other than that they are identical. My question is, how is the anodized hammer/trigger better or different?

    Thanks Mike

It is not anodized black. It is blued. The one you have is chromed. Chromed is better for smoothness and corrosion resistance. The blued one could be either MIM or pre-MIM. The latter is a solid design, like the one you have. The MIM has mold marks and hollow areas. It is not as good. MIM has been known to fail, whereas S&W's forged small parts are pretty much indestructible.

Got it thanks, you guys really helped me make my decision. I was offered one for purchase recently and it had the blued trigger and a solid blued hammer. I already have one in excellent shape without those features. I will just keep the one I already have. Thanks!

I would like to eventually put night sights on my 4506. All of my guns have trijicon night sights already. Do you recommend trijicon or the original novak night sights for this weapon?

Lemme know where there's a 4506 for sale.

            I have a 1006 that wants a brother.

I'd love to get a 4505 as well too.

Its been about a month, but there was one at RCGE for all of about $425.00 and it was in excellent shape. I have a 745, was going to grab it but passed. Don't know if it's still there.

I'm also curious about which night sights to use. I have a Robar NP3'ed 4506-1.

gunbroker has a clean 4506-1 with the MIM hammer new for $500 and also gunsamerica.com has a handful for around $500 all in decent shape.
