Anyone bought a Kahr recently?

I always wanted a Kahr due to their sexiness but always read bad reviews on them. Has anyone have any experience with a recent purchase of a brand new Kahr? I remember they use to be around 800 at my local and now its about 5-600..

Which model are you looking for info on?

Most Kahrs need a minimum of 250 rounds through them for break in. Many of the complaints were from people that shot less than that. Other complaints were caused by the shooter(s) limp wristing the pistol. Especially the small compacts.

ya i just got a cw9...like advised it needed the 200 round break in but since its ran flawless but one hipcup...overall its a great gun...very accurate for the size and comfortable to shoot long session with

They are problematic. Hawk has chimed in with the two excuses Kahr gives but I do believe a lot of them have problems.....nosediving, failure to eject, mags dropping out prematurely, slide not being held open after last shot, and some pretty significant inaccuracy. I have had all those problems and eventually the pistols were fixed, including Kahr paying the freight both ways several times. That only goes for the polymer models. The steel models are like swiss watches, and that is what I am sticking with now.

Just got my Kahr CW9 about a month ago. Put 200 through it for the break in, never a F2F. Its my daily carry now.

I have a PM9 and have not had any issues with it. However, when it was new the slide was very tough and took alot of breaking in. It is very optimal for concealed carry in my opinion, at times I forget I am carrying it.

I have four, PM9, CW9, MK9 compact and full size. They all work flawlessly, after the break in period suggested! I had ftf on the stainless but you could count them dropping off as the inital round count rose to the suggested break in happened.

Great ergonomics (Browning Hi-Power). great mechanics (Glock Sorta), the Cadillac of CCW. I put Crimson trace grips on the two stainless, trigger guard Crimson trace mount on the CW9, XS big dot Tritium on the PM9.

Both Polymers are now on my CCW. Very light, accurate, reliable. What more do you want?

Experience plus speculation

I have one Kahr, a steel MK9 that is a little over 2 years old. It has run perfectly through maybe 1000 rounds.

I have heard many places that the polymer Kahrs are more problematic than the steel. I would speculate that the much higher strength of the steel frame, combined with the ability to hold better tolerances on dimensions, may account for this greater reliability.

But the polymer Kahrs are certainly attractive for their very light weight and ability to be pocket carried.

The only issue I had with my CW9 was during the break-in period. The gun would fail to feed from slide lock with a full mag if I racked it by hand. If I dropped the slide with the slide lock lever though, it fed just fine.

Now, after it has broken in, it runs 100% with whatever fmj/jhp I feed it.

This is a very typical thread about Kahrs......lots of people have no problems, some people have problems. Like I said their customer service is good (short turn around, and they will usually offer to pay the shipping, if they don't, ask) so I think they are a fine new gun to buy..........and the original design, the K9, is perfect.

Anyone know of an aftermarket trigger blade for them or someone that will modify the factory blade?

I have both a PM9 and CW9...the PM9 is great. I'm not sure why, but the CW bites the side of my finger with the tip of the blade. It's not getting pinched in between the trigger and frame, just the edge rubbing the side of my finger as I shoot. I am seriously thinking about going back to the Glock and letting the CW go.....the PM9 I'd never let go though....too small, light and accurate to be replaced with anything else out there right now in that caliber....

I got an MK40 about a month ago. The steel frames will cost substantially more than the polymer frame, but worth it IMO.

It took some getting used to but it shoots good now and has not had a single problem.

PM9 owner here. 600+ rounds of WWB and no problems whatsoever. Can't afford, let alone find, JHP right now but I don't foresee problems with those either.
