Quick question, thinking about buying first 1911 and trying to figure out Cali roster...and if i am reading it correctly, it restricts particular models based on finish?!

so, just to make sure are both of those not listed?

The list is described down to color, however sights and grips are specifically exempt from having the have the gun relisted.

It would appear, from the snipped of the Cert Guns list quoted above, that both the pistols you linked to are Cali-legal

It's not based on finish, it's based on whether the manufacturer submitted that exact model for approval. EG., CA can have a roster approved model in stainless steel, but if the manufacturer colors it pink and wants to sell it in the state, it has to go through the approval process, even though it's otherwise the exact same handgun. If it isn't on the roster, (including finish type) it isn't CA legal.
If you somehow manage to buy one first, you would never be able to take possession since the DROS process would reject it.

I don't think this is exactly true. A SS pistol that is on the list and is then refinished but is the same pistol by dimension need only pay the $200 listing fee and not a complete retest. Night sites do not require a retest over a standard site as long as the physical dimensions and material do not change. Same with grips, just a $200 listing fee since grips and sights or color have nothing to do with the physical dimensions. This is what the DOJ told me a few years ago. If the firing mechanism or actual internal or external measurements or caliber change then the firearm needs to be tested.

True. My word "approval" was intended as a catch all; re-list, retest.
Bottom line for the OP is that it isn't on the roster.
The re-listing requirement for finish etc. is in my opinion frivolous and unreasonable to say the least. But after all it is California.
