    AR for Desert Eagle 50

I have the opportunity to trade my AR that I built for a Desert Eagle 50 caliber. I know I can't buy this gun when I become a California resident however I was curious to know if I owned it BEFORE I came to California if its allowed.

    Also would you do it?

You can continue to own it when you move into and become a resident of California (no magazines with more than 10 rounds).
As for trading, have you looked into what ammunition costs to shoot the Desert Eagle? That may help shape your decision...

Desert Eagle shoots 50AE. 50AE is not a regulated caliber. Only a rifle that shoots 50BMG is regulated in CA.

As long as the lower is off list and you have it configured to legal format, ie fixed 10 rounds mag with all the features or pistol grip-less with no features you would be ok.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

I welcome it. How else would I learn.

Get the DE 50; they are off list in CA and rare. AR's are dime a dozen.

What kind of AR? Seems foolish to trade a rifle for a pistol, unless there is a great $$$$ benifit.

It really depends on the type of AR.

unless you have some crazy AR, i'd get the desert eagle. you can get an AR in cali, but getting a desert eagle once you're in cali is hard as hell...

You can get a DE in .50 AE by buying the DE XIX in .44 and buying the .50 AE barrel and magazine.
AFAIK, these aren't rare or hard to obtain, although it would be costly to buy new.

I have one in .44 with the .50 AE barrel, if you are interested, PM me, I'll give you a great deal.

the .50 is off list but the .44 is not.

Forget the .50AE and get something in 500S&W if you want a .50 handgun.

at whoever voted "Doesn't matter you can't have it here".
It's amazing how much misinformation there can be here.

I would light off a .50 round before deciding. They are not for everyone. I have not tried one but watching people shoot one made me think twice about owning one. The recoil is fierce and the two I saw were jammomatics. It is a cool single shot toy and will impress your friends for sure. Keep the AR.
