S&W Serial Number search

Hi guys,

I have a 3" model 66-4 ser#BRR66XX that I'm looking for some information on. I don't have a copy of Standard Catalog of Smith Wesson. I'm hoping that someone here with a copy would be willing to look up the Serial number for me. I'm just curious about the DOB and any other information I should know.

I would guess it is DOB 1996.

66-4 also included:
1994 - Change rear sight leaf, drill and tap frame, introduce Hogue grips, change extractor.

Mine shows BRF in August 1994, then jumps to CAM in Jan 1996, but numbering sequences aren't always reliable.

Can someone help me out on my Model 60?

it looks like its a 60-6. Stainless, two inch, round but, wood medallion stocks.

Serial number ANA332x

Steve it looks to me that a 60-6 should be a ladysmith of about 1989 but the s# indicates a non ladysmith made some ware around 85-87 I think you got the dash number wrong but then I could be reeding the book wrong

The dash number is hard to read.

The wife thinks it looks like a lowercase b. I thought it was a 6. It could be an upside down nine or even a 10 where the 1 and 0 overlap some.

its definately not a 2, 3 or 4.

I would sure like to find out what exactly it is.

let's look at the s# the book shows ALC NOV.1985 and AVB JUL. 1987 your ANA falls in between so 85-87. the dash 1 was a three inch square but started in 1972 there were some dash 2's made in 1987 the dash 3 started in 1988 so that would make it a no dash right? BUT the book says

"not all serial prefix letters were used to completion. Thus as an example there may haven been only 200 of serial prefix " BVA" used in October 2003 with the remainder or a portion used some time later."

so it cant be before 85 but it could have been after 87.
