M18 vs M18 CA Slide?

Whats the difference between the Sig Commercial M18 slide and the Sig California M18 slide? Is it just the "Loaded When Up" print on the optics plate?

I was under the impression that both slides had loaded chamber indicators.

Anyone here had the opportunity to compare them?

On the slide, that's it. The printing "Loaded When Up" on the cover met the CLI requirements.

And just for completeness, the FCU uses a different sear housing that accommodates the magazine safety. The grip module is also "hollowed out" a bit to give the mag disconnect some space inside the grip module. If you want to use a different grip module, you may need to dremel/file/sand a relief inside the grip module.

The normal P320-M18 slide has a LCI and the P320-M18CA slide has a CLI.
There are legal differences between a LCI (loaded chamber indicator) and a CLI (chamber load indicator). Which is why the distinction is important.
CA requires a CLI and does not require a LCI.

CA also requires a MDM (magazine disconnect mechanism).
The MDM on the SIG P320-M18CA is incorporated into the FCU and the frame on the SIG P-320M18CA has a space for the MDM, which is why normal P320 frames need to be modified in order to fit the P320-M18CA FCU.
Instead of modifying the frame of standard P320 to fit the P320-M18CA FCU, a person can remove the MDM from the FCU (which will get rid of the magazine disconnect mechanism).

Where did you hear this?

It's the same as on the Non-CA models. The only thing Sig did was add the text to the cover plate. (Nice move Sig!)

From my Sig rep when I called to confirm a serial number to see if the DoD mounting holes were on the m18 slide to mount the Romeo-m17 optic on it. Also the CA320 you cannot use sig parts nor grip modules from them or Wilson Combat. That?s why it better to purchase the Franklin Armory p320

Yes that will fit but not the Romee-m17 optic that will not fit for 2 reasons it does not have the special Dod mounting holes under the slide for it and chamber indicator won?t allow it to fit either. Either way you can?t mount the Romeo-m17 optic on it

OK, so the Romeo M17 does not use the DPP/R1P footprint, so you're correct there.

From Sig's site: "*Please Note - The ROMEO-M17 pistol red dot sight utilizes SIG SAUER'S proprietary SIG-LOC mounting interface and only fits SIG SAUER M17/M18 military issue, and commemorative pistols with a single optics plate mounting screw. This sight will not fit any other pistols."

But the commercial M17/M18 uses the DPP/R1P footprint) same as the California compliant M18.
