Ok my dad is offering to sell me a ruger p85 it's only had 2 magazines through it so 30 rds total it's in imacculate condition and has the 2 fifteen rounders it came with. What's the value of a p85 in mint cond. And how is it as a pistol overall

My dad had a P85. It was ok to shoot. I didn't think it was all that great but it ate everything we fed it. I also remember it not being that accurate. I think $300 would be a fair price for a P85.

Here is some history for you on the P series.

Heavy, sturdy, reliable - it's a Ruger. Remember, you can't take the 15 rounders in the PRK.
I've got an original that I've put about 8000 rounds thru.
There was a recall, see if it is involved.
          IMHO a great gun, value about 250 - 350

i had a Ruger P85 BB gun, i liked the way the gun looked and felt in my hands.

i guess its not that accurate but its a 9mm HD pistol you would most likely be shooting a target within 10 yards.

My P85 was the first handgun that I ever bought almost twenty years ago.
Mine has thousands of rounds though it and it still shoots and functions as it did when it was new.As someone mentioned it is not the most accurate pistol but it will always fire when you pull the trigger. I did change the factory plastic grip inserts to Unkle Mikes they are a little more grippy than the factory plastic.
Good luck with it if you get it.

i still have mine. And its accurate as hell. Reliable never broke down or anything. There are better guns out there but I like it too much. Lots of people give Ruger a bad name and say stuff. if theire so bad why are they still in business? i had a guy at a gun store try and tell me he dropped one and the frame broke. I just laughed at the guy.
275-300$ to me woudl be a decent selling price for a gun that old.

P85 = good gun. Very reliable, always goes bang.

A clean Ruger P series is the best centerfire semi-auto you can get for under $300, IMO. I can't think of anything that competes in that price range, now that Makarovs have gotten expensive.

Sure, they're heavy, bulky, and lack finesse, but they're reasonably accurate and totally reliable. I like my P95 a lot. I have better guns, but not many more reliable.

Your dad can't give/sell you the hicap magazines.

I am sure you and your dad do not wish to commit a crime.
