    WinClean?

I haven't even received my first hand gun ever an XD-9 yet & i'm buying ammo. I know they use Winclean ammo at the indoor range,is it good for my new gun. I only want the best for my new family member. I did buy some Hyro Shock's for the homestead, any feed back on those would be nice too. thanks Chris (CA)

I figure like everything else, you can't always believe the first things you hear.

I've used Hydra-Shocks in my Kimber, and wasn't impressed w/accuracy.

You should try lots of different kinds of ammo to find what works best in your particular handgun. That can be expensive & difficult right now.

For Self?Home-Defense in a semi-auto, you really should run 200+ rounds through to ensure reliability & accuracy. But, don't wory about that until you've properly broken your gun. I usually run 500 or so rounds through my semi's before I concern myself w/failures (i.e. several FTEs after 30 rounds wont bother me, whereas several FTE after 800 rounds will).

As always, YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary).
    This is my sig line.

I carry Federal HSTs for home defence, and I have corbon powerballs for my .45.

WinClean is good range ammo if you can afford it. I like WWB for range time..

Some good but long reads on self defense ammo, may be a little outdated though

Corbon, Federal HSTs, Speed Gold Dots, Winchester Ranger T are all great

        use +P

I've carried and shot Hydra-Shocks for years, haven't noted any significant difference in accuracy and/or reliability over other factory HP ammo.

WinClean is becoming more commonly used in LE range practice, especially in newer ranges such as the Training Center in Windsor, which is lead-free. It lives up to its name; inspect an empty case and see what I mean. It's fine for use in your XD-9.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
