My theory is there are at least two groups of hand-bone patterns and diff brand grips were made by different guys.

Glock is one and Spring xD is another. Compared side by side Glock feels right to me and xD is all wrong.

Ruger 380 also felt all wrong, mini-1911 better.

People with "the other" hand-type might say "they really screwed up the grip design" but I'm pretty sure it must have been good for somebody.

My technique for the two handed pistol grip is essentially:
Offhand finger outside the strong hand fingers.
Lock the elbow of the offhand arm. Strong hand arm elbow slightly bent.
Rotate the offhand arm outward as far as it will go.
Use a firm but unstrained grip.
About 70 percent of the support strength coming from the offhand arm.
Strong hand thumb above the offhand thumb.
Offhand thumb firm along the frame, somewhat low but above the trigger guard.

In any case, the goal is to lock your body into a stable yet unstrained platform that naturally returns to the exact same position after each recoil.

Other than that, apply the same good habits as for rifle marksmanship: sight picture, breath control, trigger squeeze. Finally, as someone here once said, "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast."

Personally I suggest any newer shooter book a private lesson at their local range. Even a average instructor can teach you a lot about form is a short time.

I have such short fingers that proper grip technique is impossible.

I stick to J Frames and D Frames and single stack compacts and still struggle.

          I always use two hands

no need to reinvent the wheel, people who have been there and done that have compiled the knowledge and experience for us. search jerry micolek or hickock45's youtube video where they instruct you on how to shoot. then look at some of the self defense oriented videos by wilson combat or bob vogel where teach you concepts like bearing down on the grip as if strangling it during close range rapid fire.

people claiming that they're "different" so they don't have to listen to the veteran shooters are probably doing less effective techniques and could be better if they just set their ego aside and listened to people who know more than them
