Wondering how reliable the current M18's are for those of you who bought them? How many rounds have you put through it and any issues? Reason for asking is I see mixed reviews but a lot of them have been a couple to few years old now.

M18 reliability?

You realize this gun went through military testing and is the current sidearm of our military.
And no problems on my CA version. Still breaking it in.Last edited by deckhandmike; 01-12-2024, 7:27 PM. -
It's still just exploding kind of often, at random. Maybe you'll get lucky. Maybe you'll be missing a finger after a kaboom!Comment

The ONLY issue I had on ALL my P320X PRO pistols was due to my hold and slide release that stuck out too far. Ocasionaly, the the gun would slide lock with riunds in the magazine. I replaced slide release on all of them with a low profile part available from Sig Sauer. ( 20.00 + shipping) and problem went away. I never had to clear a malfunction of any kind with P320's that I have. I carried P320X COMPACT PRO off duty ocasionaly . No issues. Trigger is a little soft , but that a personal preference. I am sure M18 is just fine.Last edited by ap3572001; 01-12-2024, 8:07 PM.Comment

yet apparently they didn't bother to do a proper drop test
then again it's the modern army we're talking about. who knows what dei, esg, or other marxist rituals sig did to get selected. plenty of ways other than merit to get ahead in the current americaComment

We?re talking about the M18. Not the original 320. If anyone can break stuff it?s a bunch of 18 year olds that didn?t pay for it. So far, looking good.Last edited by deckhandmike; 01-12-2024, 10:30 PM.Comment

So I have probably 2,000 ish rounds through mine now. The only issue I’ve had is a five or six failure to feed malfunctions. This happened at about 1,200 rounds and it was after I did a detail strip and cleaning. I noticed that it seemed kind of gummed up and I had used some heavy Wilson lube on it. I cleaned that up and have only had one additional FTF. I thought maybe my support side thumb was pushing up the slide stop, but, when I tried that, I couldn’t bump the slide forward by tapping the bottom of the magazine. Not really sure what’s going on. If it persists I’ll have something to consider but otherwise I’d say it’s plenty reliable.Comment

Still unproven gun, definitely not something you should trust against printed silhouette targets at the range, especially if you choose the ones with the bad guy holding a gun.
It's just too risky!Comment

How so? In your mind does it need to have a decade of use to be proven? I have had both a M17 and a M18 for over a year now and they have been 100% reliable with a variety of different factory ammo. They haven't exploded, randomly fired by themselves or any of the other doom and gloom things that are attributed to them. I occasionally use it as a carry gun instead of my Glock 19x and have no worries that it will malfunction based on my own experience.
If you have one I would be interested in hearing what problems you have had with it and how you have, or haven't resolved them. If you don't have one, maybe you should buy one and see for yourself how one performs instead of relying on internet posts to form an opinion.MLC member.

This is why they blow up. This is a design flaw. Guns need way more case support than this, Glock figured this out in the 80/90's.Comment

I just took my M18 and my G19x apart and to my eye the rounds look like they are seated the same in relation to the feed ramp, which is the only unsupported portion of the case.

The silhouette targets with the guy holding a gun, those are the dangerous ones. These guns just don't have enough track record against those. How so? The concern is definitely warranted.Comment
