    S&W Shield slide compatability

Does anyone know if the slides are compatible between the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield, and the newly rostered Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus?

I've the Shield as a CCW pistol and it is exceptionally comfortable. I have a Holosun HE507K-GR dot sight on the gun and really like the set-up. If I can just swap slides on the gun, gain 3 rounds in the magazine, and enjoy similar comfort levels I would be very interested.

    Thanks in advance.

Evidently they are compatible. This slide sold by Optics Planet is advertised for the Shield and Shield Plus.

I have an off-roster shield 1.0 as EDC and will be getting a plus when they are available in mass. I took a leap of faith and bought a slide from Freestone Armory on eBay. I don't want the CA style loaded chamber indicator. Their descriptions are saying they are all (1.0, 2.0, plus, and .40 cal) compatible though I can't give any confirmation at this point. everywhere I looked for the slides they interchanged shield and shield plus in the descriptions.

Other than the Shield Plus frame, magazines, and magazine release all other parts are interchangeable between the Shield 9 (Gen1), Shield 2.0, and Shield Plus. I bought a Shield Plus trigger and installed it in my Shield 9(Gen1) and it works great!

EDIT: To answer the OP question. Yes the slides can be swapped. Other than the markings on the slide and the front scallops there is no difference. I believe the “California” Shield Plus uses the slide without the front scallops that are found on the Shield 2.0 slide.

The shield 2.0 slide IS different. The extractors are completely different and do not interchange.

If you're trying to build a bare slide, you need a few correct parts. The new extractor has a weird double spring and it can not be retrofit.

The *complete* slides interchange across shields. You can put a new shield plus PC 4" slide on an older 1.0, or any combo of any of the shields. Just needs to be a complete slide.

I stand corrected, you are right. The complete slides are interchangeable. I was not thinking of building the slide from a bare slide. The slides that are being sold are complete minus the barrel and recoil spring.

One other thing the ?California Roster? Shield barrels have the LCI cut out and not the ?Free State? view port. So if that bothers you you will also need a non-LCI barrel.

Thanks everyone for the timely and authoritative replies. I'm constantly impressed with the knowledge base here on CalGuns.

I'm not worried about a lack of LCI or viewing window. I've been trained to press check at a minimum to verify the arm is loaded, or lock the slide back and physically touch the chamber if my goal is to verify unloaded status.

              Thanks again everyone.
