    Glock Guys - Question

    Im newer to Glocks.
    I?ve seen this :

    Receiver------------Upper/s
    G17.....................G17,17L,34
    G34.....................G17,17L,34

I purchased G34 after finding I can also purchase G17 slide both Gen 3 and have no issues with going back & forth.

But I have ran into a problem with a slides :

I do not want to Force the G17 onto the G34 Frame/Lower but it seems to not want to fit into Battery.

I noticed a notch on the G34 Slide but Not on the G17 slide but Please Let me Know your opinions
Or I?m an Idiot- and go back to SIG..
Maybe others will learn stuff too.

Those frames and slides should be interchangable. Everything about the frame is the same. That extra material machined out of the 34 is just to reduce weight, like the window in the top of the slide.

As long as both are Gen 3, line up the rails and slide it on. If it sticks towards the back try wiggling the slide.

make sure the trigger is not forward in the firing position before trying to put the slide on. The trigger assembly has to be relaxed or the slide will not go on.

Push in the striker safety plunger and allow the striker to go forward. Then put the slide on frame. If both are Gen 3 there should be no problem. I don?t recall seeing a notch cut out like that on a Gen 3 G34 slide.

I just looked at my G34 and G17 slides. The G34 does have that cutout but that doesn’t touch anything. If I remember, G34 slides have weight reduction so the slide would work, and i know the front hole over the barrel is there, and I guess this cut is a weight saving measure too. Both slides fit on both frames (frames are identical). Something else on your gun is catching.

After watching Videos & Checking Stripped Slide (Striker Industries)
Appears the Firing Pin Safety Plunger is the Problem maybe not being pushed up out of the way or ?

As mentioned, push it in push the striker forward and it will hold the plunger in a little making assembly easier. But its not necessary, just give the slide a bit more push and it will go on. There is nothing different between the slides anywhere the frame touches it.

It shouldn't be necessary to mess with the plunger to easily fit the slide.

Into battery, meaning the slide goes on, goes all the way back, but won't go forward to battery? That sounds like the recoil spring is sitting funny.

Right. The recoil spring should sit on the bottom (rounded) ledge, not the top one.
