Who owns more than one Python?

I have a new 4.25" Python and just broke a new 6" Anaconda out of jail, and thinking of another Python but also thinking it's too derivative.

Wondering your thoughts on why you have more than one Python in the stable.

If the 2.5" becomes available, that may be fun, but i'm always reluctant on purchasing short barrel magnums.

I have two Pythons . Should have had 3 . 18 years ago Choose a Colt gold cup which I already had several and passed up a snubbie Python in Colt Guard (electroless nickel) for 1k... Idiot!
The two I own now were acquired since the blue 6” was cheap at the time since it had holster wear and no box and the vintage Stainless 6” I have is because well ,I f—kin know “ zombie fan boy “... Rick Grimes.

I acquired the new model Pythons because I enjoy building my skills with double-action revolvers from a number of different manufacturers, from America and Europe. I have previously owned a few older Pythons, but have sold those because they are not as durable as those of other makers.

Here pictured are two recent model (2020) Colt Pythons, 3 & 4.25? models. Both have been tuned by Dave Fink over at Gunsite. After shooting them a bunch, I learned that the sights did not always hold adjustment, so I replaced the stock sights with the Wilson adjustable version. Huge difference. Dave Fink chamfered the cylinder mouths, removed the gawd-awful serrations on the face of the triggers, and corrected the sear engagement to improve the single-action trigger release. Lastly, I relieved some material from the stocks to make it possible to use my preferred speed loaders. I have considered giving the 3-inch model a matte finish to reduce glare.

I also chose these because of feedback I have gotten from school, mainly that they are very durable (as compared to the older variety) and should last a long time with lots of use. As time goes by, they will get lots of holster wear, some nicks, dings, scratches, etc., but that is what they are for. Lots of use.

I have a 4" and a 2.5" (1970s vintage). Inherited both from my father. Dad loved his short-barreled revolvers for concealed carry.

Not really interested in Pythons. Would rather collect Detective Specials or Police Positives. And 1903 or 1908 pocket hammerlesses.

Pythons in 3, 4.25 and 6. Shoot the 4.25. Looking at the 2.5 and 5 inch variations. I've seen the 2.5 but not the 5".

While the double-action seems pretty good, the single-action release leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, if you very carefully watch in single-action, when the trigger is initially started in its press cycle, the hammer actually moves BACK a noticeable amount. I was told by my gunsmith that this is due to rough or sloppy sear engagement, but can be fixed for much better performance while maintaining reliability. IMO, in single-action mode, the majority of the S&W products are actually much better. After tuning the trigger function, both of mine are much better than before.
Stocks are of course a personal preference, to me they need some serious filing on to use a variety of speed loaders.

I bought a 4.25" a couple years ago. I have no need for another one but what the hec does "need" have to do with it It might be a year or two until I can afford another one. That'll give me time to decide which size to buy. I'm leaning towards the 3" model..

have the 2 longer ones of the new pythons and not sure why i havent bought the 3 incher yet,lol.
