Is CZ 75 B too old?

When I expressed my willing to buy a CZ 75 B as my next handgun, several people told me to buy 75 SP-01 instead since SP-01 is an upgrade to 75 B and more accurate. I did compare the two and feel the SP-01 is not weight balanced and has more weight on muzzle end. 75 B is kind of balanced. I also like 75 B look.

So like to hear your opinion on if 75 B is a good choice for a target shooting gun or should consider newer SP-01? Is 75 B too "old" to buy?

Either or is fine. Whichever you felt best.

For me, I like the SP01. Prefer the beaver tail and longer dust cover. Excellent shooter in stock form in SA.

      Too old for what??

Some people just have to have the latest and greatest or they aren't happy. Some don't give a rats @$$ about that and are content with what works best for them.

Kind of like the folks that buy a new car every couple of years vs those that are content with driving their old one for many years because they like it and see no reason change.

Dude, it's your money and it's your decision. Buy what you want not what some random stranger thinks you should buy.

The beavertail on the sp-01 is the only difference I personally care about between these two guns. I don't need a rail on this style of gun. For some reason in my eyes the 75b/bd looks better customized than the sp-01, which looks best stock. If it were me I'd either get the sp-01, or the 75bd if you want a decocker.

          Nah not too old

But if you want a rail go sp 01 or p01

Just know the slide is small and hard to grab on to. Least it is for me and the wife.

I have a 75B that over the years has become a Tactical sport.

OP, buy both! It's the Calguns way!

Both pistols are excellent, and you can't go wrong with either one.

If you think a CZ will be a carry gun, then look at the PO-1 or PCR. I have a PO-1 as my EDC and it is a sweet shooter for fun at the range.

The SP01 is not any more accurate than a standard 75B. SP01 has heavier frame, slide, and barrel which makes it softer shooting and easier to shoot at speed.

I personally think it is a big, heavy brick. But I don't use CZ's in competition.

If you like the look, weight and balance of the standard 75B but want the rounded tang, look for a stainless or SAO version. The SAO version can be converted to SA/DA if you want it. Unless you are talking about a SP01 Tac or 75B D, the classic line 75 series is really a SA pistol with double strike capability anyway.

I have really old pre B model and it has been an excellent shooter. I sent it to Cajun Gunworks for trigger job and a few improvements and the gentleman from CG wanted to know if I would consider, selling it to him.

Personally, I like the slimmer profile of Pre B model but just a preference.

If 75B is too old, then how about people who continue to purchase 1911s?

While SP01 is an updated version of 75B based on features in P01, not all features are desirable. Some people (including myself) hate SP01's factory NATO hook trigger and replace it with aftermarket 75/85 style trigger.

No the 75b is not to old. I have a couple of them and they are nice shooting guns out of the box and even better with just a few improvements. The SP01 is a nice gun also ( got a couple of those also) it just has a few deference's as stated like a larger beaver tail and light rail. What you might want to look into would be a 75b SA. It's a 75 with the larger beaver tail and just a little better fit for my hand at least. I have five of the SAs I like that frame so much and also enjoy changing them into longslides. Unfortunately CZ no longer makes the SA version but there are plenty out there. These are some of my creations.

Apparently the SP01 and P01 were Nato approved with .05% failure rate for MTBF.

                            So there doing something right.

Its not too old, OP, in fact it is as young as when it was first marketed into the United States back in the day.

Heck, the 1911 was born in the early 20th century and today, the basic milspec 1911 is still with us and with not much change since it first came out in March 1911.

Buy the CZ 75B. You like how it hefts and feel in your hand. Buy it, practise with it, enjoy its aesthetics. Like you, I think its a .....beautiful gun.
