    Early gen2 Glock 19

This ones for you, big Pimping, We all know how much you like your Glocks.

I picked up this gen2 G19 today at my local pawn shop. It is a rather early G19 with a proof date of 6/88.

So, a bit of Glock minutiae for those like me that nerd out on this kind of stuff. The very first G19's imported into the US were gen1's in the AN serial number block and apparently the next gen1 19's were in the DN block with barrel date codes of 4/88. Glock serial numbering and date codes don't always follow a logical sequence and the majority of DN prefix G19's are actually gen2's.

Gen1 G19's (especially with an AN prefix) are considered to be a Holy Grail to Glock collectors as very few were imported into the US. And believe me when I say that there are some very dedicated Glock collectors out there that are willing to pay big $ for rare Glocks.

Honestly, I don't really collect Glocks, but I do enjoy the hunt for guns that I am interested in and gen1 and gen2 Glocks are among those guns that I look for.

I have been on the hunt for a gen2 G19 for several years now, but I am just not willing to pay much of a premium for one over what I would pay for any other used Glock. This one was fairly priced and I snatched it up when it was offered to me.

Date code ZTT translates to June, 1988. Note the Austrian proofs on the slide and frame. I'm not sure when they stopped doing this, but my gen2 G17L (prefix BKA) doesn't have them.

Very nice G19 Gen2! It even has Austrian Proof Marks, even more desirable!

          No it doesn't

But, your question prompted me to do a bit of research and I found this information on Glock Talk in the Collector sub forum. Props to GT member Premier Tactical for the following information.

I pulled apart some of my handguns in order to get a better look of the trigger bars. Not having many newer Glocks with the black parts does make it more difficult.I found the #4 trigger bar in an EU prefix Glock and the #5 in a DF prefix.

The trigger bar in mine is a dead ringer for #5

So, has it been changed out/upgraded? I haven't a clue

Looks like you got all the original parts.

Research on "Glock 6-part upgrade / update"

So I found some of these parts in my Gen 1 Glock 17 slide and my LE trade in G23. The black parts in my G17 gen 1 were part of the 6 part recall. A Glock Armorer can get the new parts and replace for

If you prefer your G19 Gen 2 to be "historical/period authentic", keep it as it is.
If you want the latest 21st-century OEM innards, change the parts. Maybe call GLOCK and get the update/upgrade free of charge.

In my tinkering with my G19 Gen 2, it has some special parts to name a few...

            Locking block: SP02471 (two-pin frame)
            Extractor: SP00098 (Non-LCI Slides w/ 90? Ejection Port)
Barrel: SP03577 (Pre CHP Serial #'s)

            Enjoy your special GLOCK!

I think I am going to leave it alone for now. When I shoot Glocks nowadays, it is almost always going to be either my 19x or my 48. Even the 17L doesn't get to much range time anymore. Quite frankly the Sig P210 has been getting most of the shooting lately as it is just such a joy to shoot.

I love my 19 gen 2. I'd sell all my others.

Running joke is the gen 2 was so good they made it twice but had to call it something else (gen 5)

All in, $525, which is more than I would have liked to pay, but unfortunately the guy that had it knew what he had. I did negotiate him down a bit so I feel like I got it at a little better price.

I watch the market pretty carefully on collector grade guns I am interested in and in the case of early Glocks, I see the prices of two letter prefix gen2's with Austrian proofs rising at a steady rate. What amazes me is the prices that sellers are asking, and getting, for things like original date coded manuals and early tupperware boxes.

Even early mag loaders are sought after when needed to complete a set.

One of the nice thing about these kinds of finds, you can shoot them and value is not affected. Very nice find.
