This ones for you, big Pimping, We all know how much you like your Glocks.
I picked up this gen2 G19 today at my local pawn shop. It is a rather early G19 with a proof date of 6/88.
So, a bit of Glock minutiae for those like me that nerd out on this kind of stuff. The very first G19's imported into the US were gen1's in the AN serial number block and apparently the next gen1 19's were in the DN block with barrel date codes of 4/88. Glock serial numbering and date codes don't always follow a logical sequence and the majority of DN prefix G19's are actually gen2's.
Gen1 G19's (especially with an AN prefix) are considered to be a Holy Grail to Glock collectors as very few were imported into the US. And believe me when I say that there are some very dedicated Glock collectors out there that are willing to pay big $ for rare Glocks.
Honestly, I don't really collect Glocks, but I do enjoy the hunt for guns that I am interested in and gen1 and gen2 Glocks are among those guns that I look for.
I have been on the hunt for a gen2 G19 for several years now, but I am just not willing to pay much of a premium for one over what I would pay for any other used Glock. This one was fairly priced and I snatched it up when it was offered to me.

Date code ZTT translates to June, 1988. Note the Austrian proofs on the slide and frame. I'm not sure when they stopped doing this, but my gen2 G17L (prefix BKA) doesn't have them.
