Sig Hammer Springs

Looking for help.

I have an older P226 X5 Tactical that had the older style longer hammer spring, and have added a magwell which required a new hammer spring and plastic seat.

I added a newer style Armory Craft super strut and a Wolff 19lb new style hammer spring and have an occasional light strike (maybe 1 every two mags) which will fire with a second strike.

The original older-style hammer spring is 24lb I believe. I think the strongest spring for the new-style hammer spring is 20lb (which I've purchased and am going to try out).

Short of ditching the magwell and going back to the older style hammer strut and the stronger spring, any suggestions for how to get a stronger spring, since I can't find an OEM or Wolff equivalent? Find a hammer spring for a different gun that would fit this strut? add a "collar" to the top of the hammer strut so the spring is compressed more?

Anyone have a similar experience?

In my experience, adding aftermarket and non-OEM stuff on a classic P-series makes your SIG sour.

Bring your SIG back to stock configuration and that will make it a sweet shooting SIG.

have you tried a different brand of ammo just to see if it's less sensitive with 19lbs spring? maybe a solution in order for you to keep the magwell.

I thought the standard weight of a P226 hammer spring is 19lb. At the very least, it?s not 24lb. That?s like the standard spring weight of a P6 (way too much).

I second Barang. Try different ammo first. It?s the easiest fix.

I changed my strut system to grays guns to fit some grips and it worked great. Maybe try that.
