Has 9mm hit bottom price wise?

I'm just wondering what the community's thoughts are on the price of FMJ 9mm. After over a year of price drops I've noticed that it's steadied around $0.23 CPR give or take out the door including ship and tax for FFL03 buyers for about 2 months now. Do folks think it might still go down more or are we at bottom?

Given inflation, it's pretty close to, or at bottom. We used to get it for $.17 with rebate when there was a screaming deal sale, with the normal really good price about $.19 or so. Since everything else has gone up a bunch $.23 isn't bad.

It used to be we could reload stuff for a lot less than factory. 9mm and .223 isn't as cheap to reload as it was. The best thing is that you are not limited on the variety, and can choose to load the variation of your choice.

We used to get primers for $65/5K sleeve years ago at the gun show. When they got up to $175 many of us thought that was a lot. Hahaha, now at least $.075 or more. $65/K for FMJ 9mm 125 grain projectiles back then (sometimes less), good quality too. No more. 9mm lead for $35 or so/K. Way more now. Everything has gone up a lot.

.23 a round is a good deal shipped/tax and doesn't seem to be the norm

I'd say pretty darn close if not already. I remember back in 2016-2018, making Walmart trips back when Walmart used to be open 24 hours and getting 50rd boxes of Winchester white box 9mm 115gr for like $8.99 a box or 100rd boxes for $14.99.

Or the $200 1000rd loose cases of CCI Indpendence brass 9mm 115gr at gun shows.

It will not go down anymore is my read. It is simply inflation.

The 11% ammo tax seems to be only on in-state sales so may not impact 03FFL holders which OP mentioned.

I haven't bought 9mm ammo since WWB was $11/100
until I have to buy more primers it cost me about $12/100 to load (at least that's what I told my wife ;-)

it's amazing how quickly we allowed things to change. that sounds like a story from 1980 but is in fact just a few years ago

This threads gets made every few months, and everyone swears it only gets more expensive from here... and then the price drops, every time.

People were buying as many cases as possible at $600+ because they thought it wasnt getting any cheaper.

I havent noticed ammo prices decreasing this year. Ammo was slightly less late last year. Its gone up 3-5CPR since last year.

I'm curious. Where are you seeing 9mm for 23 cents per round including tax and shipping? Is that brass or steel case?

We have a chain here in Oregon called Bi-Mart that runs some pretty good ammo sales and I watch the prices pretty close. I bought a case of brass 9mm last year around Black Friday for $12.99 per box (26 cpr). It was an off-brand Turkish ammo that seemed to have good reviews online and that was about the best price I had seen up until that time. Also, no sales tax in Oregon.

I've picked up a few boxes the last few months when I've seen it on sale. Both Remington and Winchester have been 26 cpr on sale in the 200 round bulk boxes.

This week they have the Blazer Brass 124 grain on sale for $11.99 (24 cpr) so I picked up a case.

Will we see it cheaper in the near future? Probably. Will we see it more expensive in the future? Absolutely, I guarantee it. I definitely think it's at a price now worthy of stocking up. If it drops another 3, 5, or 10 cents a round, then stock up some more. I've been through a lot of panics and I've seen pricing trends turn on a dime. If you are in California, you know the tax increase is coming. A lot of people are speculating that war in Europe or Taiwan is going to affect the ammo supply. A mass shooting or legislation could spark another buying frenzy. It would be better to pay a few cents more per round now than be standing in line for rationed amounts of inflated ammo after the panic starts. I don't know how many people I've heard say after the panic starts that "I was waiting for it to drop another 2 cents per round and then I was going to back up the truck. Now I'm paying double."

Don't wait for rock bottom, buy when it's reasonable. If prices drop, buy more. Every time you see the best price you've seen in a while, pick up a few boxes.

I would say no. I recall 9mm under $10 a box.
