Need suggestions- 9mm, single stack, striker fired, with a rail

I have a friend in CA who is looking for a pistol as noted above; he was set on the Glock 43 MOS but found it wasn't on the roster. He called me for suggestions and I'm drawing a blank- everything I'd get here here isn't on the roster. Any help would be really appreciated.

Here's the link to California's available handguns as available if sold by an FFL.
Private party sales between California residents are allowed, however, but it's difficult and usually expensive, both from the Seller's price and the necessary two trips to whichever FFL (usually near the Seller) is used effect the transfer.

    Sorry, I can't think of an on-roster 9mm single-stack w/rail.

      On-Roster 9x19mm subcompact about the size of a Glock 43X = Ruger MAX-9.
^Currently, should cost between $375-400 from CA FFL dealers.

Only gun I can think of like that is the Springfield XDS, but I?m pretty sure they?re off roster too. It?s a single stack version of the Springfield XD for carry use.

          M&P Shield + a rail adapter (https://recovertactical.com/product/...wesson-shield/)?

          Glock 43/48 + a rail adapter (https://recovertactical.com/product/...43-43x-and-48/)?

Never used a rail adapter myself, so can't speak from first-hand experience. Might work, might be a gimmick.

I have the recover tactical rail adapter for the 1911. This one included a shroud for the grip as well. This ruined the whole slim 1911 for me. It was ok, but I wouldn't waste my money on it.

It does look like the Shield adapter only attaches to the trigger, so that's better. Not sure how much extra bulk you're willing to put up with in order to mount a light or laser or espresso maker.

I purchased one for the shield...I was curious how the shield would feel in hand with a recontoured trigger guard and it was inexpensive...so why not.

It's surprisingly solid and appears that it will do it's job....but it's still kind of a gimmick imho.
