Imho get the elite CA and remove the mag disconnect.
If the slide bothers you thats easy to replace too.
Probably be all in less than off roster price too.

Wow, congratulation. I'm sure you will be so happy. I also think a p226 would be fantastic, but I can't really justify it since I already have a p229. I'm very happy for you. I'm not a Sig armorer, so to me, disassembly and reassembly is more intimidating than my other pistols and revolvers. Just be careful and watch Youtube closely. You will need that half punch tool. Also, I got new sights on my p229 because I really dislike Sig's combat sight picture. There is a thread with lots of good info from Skyhawk and others. Yeah, even though the Sig is a duty gun, it's got amazing accuracy and I much prefer the "center hold" sight picture.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm pretty satisfied with it. Shoots like a laser too. It was really accurate even with the CLI slide assembly as well.

I've completely disassembled P226 and P229 frames. It's not difficult but it can be tricky especially the sear, safety lever, and hammer strut. Definitely need to watch some videos to see how its done.

But if you just want to replace the locking insert to get rid of the magazine safety, that is the easiest thing to do. Even easier than installing sights. You don't need any tools. You just rotate the takedown lever out of the gun and then take the locking insert out. Put the new one in and reinsert the takedown lever. Silly easy. Watch a youtube video to see how to turn the takedown lever out.

It's more than look. The stainless Elites are quite a bit heavier, about 30% IIRC. I have two, a P226 in 9mm and a P220 Carry (size of P229) in .45. Those are by far my favorite Sigs, together with a similar stainless P226 X5 (old model, before they bastardized it).
