This is interesting (at least to me):
There is a newish single shot, break-open action, 45 Colt/.410 handgun by Rossi, called the Brawler.
I checked the CA Code for exceptions to the Handgun Roster, and this gun should be exempt as a single shot, and has more than enough length.
So I purchased one online, and gave the seller my local FFL information.
I was contacted by the seller saying they had recently sent one to CA, and the DROS was rejected by the state, saying it was an illegal short barrel shotgun.
Go figure.
