Glock People: Gap between Slide and Frame?

Hey guys. Between the glocks that I've held/used and the photos I've seen, I've noticed some have a "significant" gap between the slide and the frame.

The difference is significant enough to the point where it's easy to see the recoil spring and even the next round in the magazine through that gap.

Even with this gap, the gun racks just fine, fires without a problem, rides on its rails as expected, etc.

So is this gap I keep seeing a non issue?

It allows all the dirt/fouling/mud/cotton candy a way out.

Notice there is about .025" of vertical play between the slide and the frame up front. When the slide is under spring pressure, it torques upward, exposing the gap you see. Push down on the slide and you'll see.

GAP= Glock Airgap Principle? Guess it don't matter.

Yup, normal. When I pinch the slide and frame at the muzzle on my G19, there is a bit of "play."

Yes it is normal for loose tolerance guns like the glock and the AK

Okay. I just remember seeing the gap in several glocks I was checking out. Mine seemed to have a particular good amount of gap. I'll take pictures of it when this 10 day wait is over. I didn't say anything since the guy cut open the sealed tape right infront of me, so it couldn't have been from mishandling.

I have a feeling its going to bug me every time I look at it. (Not necessarily as I shoot it, since...I don't look at my guns sideways while shooting them..).

Has anyone tried anything to fix that tolerance? Anyone talk to Glock?
