Proper recourse for incorrect slide work?

I got a made-to-order slide from Slideworks Engineering, gave detailed specifications for the milling pattern and cerakote in addition to confirming over the phone.

Well after months of waiting (despite a 1-week claimed lead time, which I was flexible with due to custom requests), I get the slide and it has a completely different cut with ports that I specifically wished to avoid.

I contacted support/the owner and was told they didn?t have the correct tooling for my request so they went ahead and did this different pattern, yet never even notified me of the change or acknowledged it until I contacted them.

What do you guys think would be an appropriate resolution? Sending the slide back and requesting a refund or waiting for one with the correct cut? Keeping it and requesting partial refund for the error?

Pretty ticked off after waiting so long for this to happen, and they didn?t even coat one of the small parts in my order since my camo request was ?laborious?, again without telling me. It was a three-color camo with stock h-series colors, could have just matched any one of the colors?

Their error, they should make it right. I would return it for a full refund if it’s not what you ordered and find someone else. If they’re willing to work with you for exactly what you want, then that’s a consideration but they’ve already messed up on their ability to communicate with you.

      1. Confirm everything on the call by email. Get a record of their screw up.
      2. Demand they provide you with a new OEM slide and full refund of your money. In return, they can have the one they butchered.

Sounds like they made some generic pattern "since they couldn't do it like you wanted" Obviously the pattern with the "one week
" lead time " Should be no skin off their nose to take it back and full refund you. Keep it friendly......

Yeah they offer several stock patterns, I chose one and asked for some small modifications. Instead they picked a completely different one from their offerings and ignored my requests. I felt bad at first since they went through the coating process but you?re right, it could have been avoided or resolved with a simple email or call to let me know

Thank you, I do have records of both the super detailed order notes as well as emails. In this case my OEM slide is safe since this was made-to-order with their own blank slide as part of the cost. Very glad I did so that my factory slide is safe!

I guess it depends. If it's not ideal but you can live with it, a discount is in order.

If you're just never going to use it because it's wrong, they should issue a refund.

They couldn't call you before they just ignored your requests??
Since it's their slide, I would ask them if they wanted to redo it or just give you your money back. If I got any static, I would put a hold on the cc payment and let them take the lead from there.
Or, discount for poor listening skills, replace slide, or just keep it.
Really, really, poor customer service on their end. Unfortuneately, cs is getting worse every day, but you do have some leverage here.

If they don't have the correct tooling (and presumably aren't going to get it), what the point in keeping it or redo-ing it. if it's not what you want.

Return it and get your money back.

With what you describe, it seems as though they just did what they wanted, rather than what you asked for. What makes you think things will be different the second go around?

Return it for a refund. They pay shipping.

And don’t deal with them again.

You ordered “A” but you got “B”.

Full refund. Any shipping or other expenses paid by the vendor. You shouldn’t be out 1 penny.

They said it?s on backorder so I?d only get it remade if they?re getting it in soon. But yeah the more I read the replies and think about it I?ll most likely go for the refund.
