    analysis of the marketplace megathread

this thread is for gathering our analysis and thoughts on the current state of the handgun marketplace

    july 2023

extreme buyer's market due to economic downturn and announcement of multiple guns coming into california's handgun roster. overall asking price of marketplace has fallen approximately 200 dollars. there is still a noted price hold out for certain guns like the sig p320, m17, and m18. however none are selling.

price to sell trend for popular guns:

    off roster:
    m&p: 600
    m&p 2.0: 800
    shield: 500
    shield 2.0: 800
    sig p320: 900
    glock gen 5s: 800
    bodyguard 380: 400

other lesser brands in similar categories and class: 500-700

conclusion: ~800 median selling price for off rosters

    on roster:
    shield: 400
    glock gen 3s: 600

conclusion ~500 median selling price for on rosters

let these be a guide on how to price your guns to sell and also list your observations as well.

yeah, in some places they're like 600 after fax and fees, market place sellers generally include holster and extra mags though, so that might be why people are buying at that price. maybe the sample size i'm witnessing isn't big enough. i'll look for more data for the glock gen 3s

Let's do an analysis on previously banned members and their hack analysis of CGN marketplace pricing.

No one is taking your research as a guide to anything, certainly not any sellers with desirable off-roster guns.

How is this an analysis? Did you literally cull data, and if so, for how long?

Where is the data? How do you differentiate various sub-models?

Anyway, I won?t be subscribing, I already wasted two minutes.

i already explained this phenomenon in the op. those sellers have 4 page threads they've been bumping since january. no one's going to buy.

lol i'm not the one determining the prices, just giving my analysis and observations on what prices are selling for certain guns and categories of guns. note this might change from a month to month basis. my current observations are just limited to the month of july

I just would never pay their theft markup. I will wait for it to come to the roster and buy it at market prices. If it never comes to the roster, it just wasn?t meant to be.

it's very interesting to see resistance to this change. if tomorrow the roster were to go away entirely, there will be people who would be groaning instead of celebrating. it's kind of like stockholm syndrome.
