    Light strikes G19/Timney Alpha

    Hi All-
Experiencing 4 percent light strikes with a G19 gen 3 and Timney Alpha. The connector is a Glock OEM (-) and is straight. Any solutions or suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

my experience is that if you alter any internals at all, including the trigger, you'll get light primer strikes, on certain brands of ammo. That may go away if it isn't well broke in yet. Only suggestion is to either stay stock, or find the brands of ammo your gun likes (which you should do anyway). That's what I do because I hate the stock trigger, I use a Zev. I only have issues with Winchester White Box, and Wolf steel case. Haven't found any issue with other brands, but I buy a case at a time and don't burn that much, so I rarely venture beyond Blazer or Federal.

Do you have an oem striker spring? I had a similar problem in my 34 when using a 4.5lb striker spring and the timney trigger. Went back to oem spring and it works fine now. Just finished shooting a case of magtech no issues.
You can always email Timney. I had some problems with trigger reset and they responded quickly. All I had to do was change the bend in the connector.

Put the stock striker spring back in, no need for anything lighter if you are running a Timney. That is one of the beauties of the Timney trigger, you can have a great trigger and still run the factory striker spring.

Polish the top of the trigger cruciform really well. The Timmy setup tends to drag the firing pin along the cruciform and when it’s polished this issue will go away.

I had the same problem, the bottom of the firing pin is dragging across the top of the trigger bar. It's slowing it sufficiently to cause light strikes.

Simple fix with nothing but a little dremeling. Watch this video.

My experience with the Timney Alpha Trigger was bad. I had a gunsmith install it on my Glock 26 gen 3, made in 2002, has the 3 pins that Timney said is ok to install. He had installed several, including on 3 of his personal Glocks. The trigger break was the best polymer striker trigger I felt, but the reset wasn't as good as stock. I got through 50 rounds when I started to have reset issues every 3rd round, the gun wouldn't reset, was a dead trigger. The scary thing was if you moved your finger around it would fire. We called Timney, and they said try bending the stock connector, that is what usually causes the reset issues with Timney. My gunsmith compared my older gen 3 26 with a new one he had in the store, and the locking block was a little different. When we told Timney that, they said take it out, we don't recommend it on that model. The lesson I learned is that you have to be careful with this aftermarket stuff.

I have run into out of spec trigger bar (too short to hit the connector , so the trigger bar would not go down to drop the sear and release the striker) and timney replaced it

If you have to dremel the cruciform because it?s dragging on the striker, I suggest getting it replaced by timney instead

I had issues with my Timney in a Gen 5 G17, light primer strikes due to firing pin dragging on cruciform. One of my buddies had no issues with his Gen5 G17, while another also had issues with his Gen3 G17. So it's just hit n miss, some suggest polishing the cruciform until the firing pin no longer drags. I opted to just switch over to an Apex trigger.

Only thing I have done to my two Glocks (G19 & G36) is put TruGlo sights on them. Have not touched anything internal and I'm glad I haven't (couldn't be happier with stock).

                            Ditto that, to the letter.

This thread is the exact reason why.

timney and apex seem to be operating on placebo effect. the trigger feels different, yes, but i don't see it translating to actual improvement of handling and shooting characteristics.
