I did the old candlestick method. It's different but not a massive change. You don't realize how much the hump helps your strong and support hand grip until it's gone. I no longer use this frame and the original slide is sitting on top of a PF940c. I run my other Glocks without the hump removal.

I'm sure the hump has benefits if one trains with Glocks only. Do you shoot anything else? If so, can you transition to a non-Glock grip hold without mental efforts?

Putting aside 2.5X price multiplier for CA, are you saying Gen5 backstraps have no hump?!

I had professional reduction/finger groove removal/stipple. I love it. I can't say if a stipple alone would have had the same effect, but I shoot better with it. I also have a Gen4, and I do not use any of the backstraps. I consider off and on having the same done.
It really comes down to your hand size. They make a gun to try to fit everyone, so it's a compromise. I have smaller hands. Like anything, the best advice I can give is to see if there's any way you can try someone else's. There's really only one way to know.
A gun is a tool. If you have to worry about "resale value", then you should spend your money on other things. I would not hesitate modifying any other tool I own to make it work better for me or enjoy using it more. Even if it's a $10 hammer or a $1000 drill press. I even paint my guns
What does "learn to use the stock version" have to do with anything? If you had bought a revolver instead, you wouldn't know how to use the stock version of a Glock either. That seems a peculiar "con". Even if you own one that's reduced and one that isn't (like I do), that's no different than owning two brands of gun.

Well I guess what I am really alluding to is that with no finger grooves and going with the slimmest grip setup, it's a lot less likely to bother you.

I second get a gen 5. It?s a drastic difference in comfort. At least go fondle a gen 5 at your lgs and see before you butcher your frame. I hate my Glock 10mm 20sf grip. I played with a G20.5 at the lgs and it makes it feel like a 9mm grip.

Whatever you do don't put you finger on the front of the trigger guard. Apparently it's a prelude to WWIII.

None. In the end, it's still a Glock. You can always find another one if you really f it up somehow.
