Sig Sauer smithing question
Three shots of whiskey, the Devil and I.Tags: None -
AFAIK, the stock P225 hammer should drop right in.
As far as lightening the DA stroke goes- internal polishing could make it smoother and feel lighter, but the only way to really lighten it is with a lighter hammer spring. IT can be done, but you may have light-strike problems.
I used to run a lighter spring in my P220 .45, but went up a few lbs in weight to get reliable ignition.

Yes the DA can be significantly lightened and yes you can change the hammer out. If you change the hammer, you need to also puchase a new sear. Both can be bought either from Brownells or directly from Sig.
As for the trigger, Bruce Gray or SigArms custom shop could do the work.Comment

I didn't like the hammer either, but after owning it for the past month... I don't even notice it anymore.Originally posted by Professor FrinkGents,
Also, is it possible/wise to replace the hammer with a commercial hammer. Its purely cosmetic, but I don’t care for the “skeletonized” look of it.

p.s. Hammers from Brownells are like $50! plus another $30 for the sear! But the good thing... the hammer for the P225 also fits the other sigs P220, P226, and so onChris
